Really? He is a ranch-hand and they had to call the fire department. Not much difference between hatching a crumb-muncher and lambing or calving. Glad it worked out.

I'm curious why this is considered "news". Women have been having babies in less than ideal conditions for thousands of years. We devote a whole month in this country to one such case.

Because giving birth can be a deadly event even when it happens in a hospital. It's called a human interest story. Sometimes one needs a break from the hard news.

Typical response from the patriarchy - "women have babies all the time, who cares, get the calf-puller, blah blah blah"
but if a MAN gave birth 30 miles out of town, it would be nothing but "holy poop, STOP THE PRESSES!!"

You have to admit if a MAN gave birth be it 30 miles out of town or in the hospital delivery room it would be worthy of the front page.
