1) No one here believes in any kind of utopia.
2) No one here expects everything to be free in a socialist democracy. We expect to contribute and receive and not be screwed over by the hyper-rich but otherwise, much will chug along the same as it does.
and
3) Those militia nuts don't want the government to provide services for you. They just want them for themselves. It's not about patriotism. It's about GREED.

Poor Clive. His knowledge of the Constitution is so limited. There's no way he'll qualify for a court-appointed atty. Doesn't he have thousands of cows?

So, whats your opinion, Ms. Lawyer, on these people being held without bail for trespassing and obstruction charges?

That and murdering them at a "traffic stop" seems a bit heavy-handed to me.

Why did you put "traffic stop" in double quotes? Because it wasn't a traffic stop but rather a police roadblock that they attempted and failed to crash through?

Hey Loser!

Number 1: No one was murdered
Number 2: There is no THEM, idiot. Only one person died. And he had it coming.

Cliven Bundy will spend the rest of his miserable life in jail. He deserves to.

His sons Hoss and Little Joe will also be in jail for a long time.

Live with it.

Well no, David. It's because someone speaking for the LEO's called the initial contact that and the press picked up on it. There was never any official denial or clarification as to the statement. And if you were paying attention, you would know that the cop's unprovoked attack on Finicum at the "traffic stop" drove him into the killing zone, or "roadblock" as you call it.

The bottom line is, it was a setup to take them down and the authority to kill them all if they resisted had been passed down. In the Newspeak definition; the agents were "seeking a peaceful resolution".

I try not to have opinions about specifics of a case of which I'm not directly involved but I can make a guess. I think that bail wasn't set because of fear that when trial came the defendents would not appear and the authorities would have the same situation with a standoff that they did in Oregon. That seems reasonable to me considering one of their philosophical tenets is that the federal government doesn't really hold any authority over them.

True enough!

I'd be rethinking that philosophical tenet right about now if I were them.

So if that is true, you are saying they are, in reality, political prisoners, being held without bail for their beliefs.

The kind of stuff that we, as Americans, do not do.

I would have to agree with Oddjob. The federal government should deal with the Y'all Qaeda like they have done in the past with similar armed insurrectionists rebelling against the government, like John Brown.

Oh, scratch that. John Brown actually had a real cause.

They are not being held for their idiotic beliefs. They can believe any stupid thing they want. What they cannot do is invade and vandalize public property, waving guns around as if they were a "well-regulated" militia, putting people out of work and causing damage both physical and monetary. Nobody arrested them for their thoughts. They were arrested for their actions.

No, I'm not saying they are political prisoners. I may have not explained myself well. They have shown through their actions that another armed standoff is a distinct possibility should they be released on bail. They are in jail because they're charged with a crime. They can always appeal the bail decision.

You should really use more commas.

Like Gordon Kahl and the Freemen before him, Cliven Bundy misinterprets the Constitution to suit his needs. Not a problem, until you resort to violence.

Gordo thought he didn't have to pay taxes. His group killed two FBI agents. As a result, he got killed. Mr. Kahl is taking a dirt nap.

Cliven thinks he doesn't have to pay fees to graze his cattle on Federally-owned land because the Federal government can't own land. Cliven and his in-bred followers threatened Federal officials. As a result, he'll spend the rest of his life in jail.

Pretty simple, actually.

Just what this site needs is more grammar police.

To date, these people have been charged with low-level felonies. Anybody else would have been released after the arraignment. Politics keeps them jailed.

Bob

The only group which has fired shots in Oregon is the government. And they have fired lots of them. An unprovoked attack at the "traffic stop" which resulted in one dead and others wounded. The government has all the blood on its hands in this case, not the protesters.

Occupy (whatever) can poop all over the streets of the cities, rape, assault and destroy public property with impunity and be totally ignored. These people engage in civil disobedience and property damage and it justifies murder. The only difference here is the target of the protest.

Murdering and jailing dissidents seems to be a common goal for Democrats and the Left. From Jim Crow to Chicago to Waco and now Obama gets his notches.

What a legacy.

How many Occupy protesters were waving weapons around?

How many Occupy protesters engaged in armed standoffs with the Feds?

Heaving rocks, bottles and poo when they were not being ignored. The only thing the people in Oregon threw or fired was words.

I'm impressed by how much you and other Leftists here advocate for or support the killing of people you disagree with.

I think it makes my point.
