DONALD DEAN HANSEN Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home Donald Dean Hansen, known to friends as 'Don', was born on July 2, 1930 in Miles City, MT to Della and H. Edward Hansen, he was the eldest of four children. Donald spent the majority of his boyhood years in the Boise, ID area where he cultivated his passion for the outdoors, enjoying fishing & hunting. He also completed his education in Idaho, earning an Associate's degree in business from Boise Junior College. Donald enjoyed a colorful career, which brought opportunities to travel the globe and build a diverse group of colleagues and friends. His career began when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1950, where he served as a radio mechanic during the Korean War. Thereafter, Donald worked for Westinghouse, BNSF Railroad, New York Life, and others, rounding out his career as owner/operator of China Pacific Inc., where he dealt in international trade and tourism. Donald was an active member of the El Katif Shriners, VFW, and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also extremely patriotic with a love for engaging in political discussions with anyone who would listen. Donald had a big heart and his family was the center of his world. He especially enjoyed watching his young grandchildren grow and even had the chance to meet his first granddaughter just one week before his passing. Donald also had a love for animals, which included the numerous hunting dogs he had over the years and his grand puppy, a chocolate lab named 'Moose'. Donald is preceded in death by his mother Della, father Edward, and brother Richard. Surviving Donald are his wife, Rebecca Hansen and their children China Izatt, mother of Austin Mila (2 weeks), Tana Connors, and Donald Hansen II, father of Mason Dean (2 years) & Parker Allen (2 months). His other children include Greg Hansen, Jeff Hansen and Sheri Bay. Donald also shared a special bond with his children through marriage; Kyle Izatt, Sam Connors and Shayna Livingston, as well as other family through marriage such as Rebecca's sisters and their families. Donald's living siblings include Betty Huffer and Della 'Babe' Mattingly. In addition, he was close with his nephews Brent and Troy Hansen (sons of Richard Hansen). Donald had numerous friends in the community with whom he enjoyed frequent visits and who offered much support through his years of battling illness. Nelmi 'Mick' Price (cousin of Rebecca) was especially helpful in caring for Donald in his final year- the two of them shared a very close friendship. The family would like to extend our appreciation to all the special people who made Donald's lifelong and full. Donald lost his battle on January 5, 2016 while sleeping alongside his beloved wife of 33 years, Rebecca- exactly how he had intended.
