It's been 6 years since I wrote How to Post a Photo, so I figured it's probably time to update with newer, easier instructions. Here we go ...

---

In order to post a photo to the discussion forums, you first need to put it online somewhere. Then when creating your message post, you only need to add a simple BBCode link to your image.

This may sound complicated, but it is not. Here is one way of how to do this:

1. Go to Imgur.

2. Click "upload images" at the top of the site. This does not require an account. (If you want to manage your photos after you upload them, then first create an account there.)

3. Click "browse your computer", select the image and click "Start Upload".

4. After the upload completes, a number of link codes will appear. At the bottom, one will say "BBCode (message boards & forums)". That's the one you want. There is a little "copy to clipboard" icon to the left of the link code. Click the icon. The link code will now be on your clipboard.

5. Compose your message at MilesCity.com, and paste (Ctrl+V or Right-Click/Paste) wherever you want your image to appear. This will insert the link code placed on your clipboard in step 4.

That's it.

There are also a lot of other photo hosting sites, such as Photobucket, so use whichever one you like -- but the above method is one of the easiest ways to quickly include images in your posts.

My Daughter shot a squirrel...

It survived the aperture:

Follow the instructions posted above and it works perfectly

Done on Windows 10... I paid extra for the Clipboard feature

I didn't pay for windows 10 and I don't recall seeing anything that offered any extra's for sale.

Lets put this simple.....go to photo bucket and copy link of the IMG....when you post it to this sight you will see the address of the link........but it will have the IMG in big letters just change it to smaller letters and it will work

That is the key make sure the letters "img" are in lower case... this has always been the stickler on getting this right... maybe webmaster can add this to his original post?

I will update the site when I get a chance, so that lowercase tags are not required when creating new posts.

For posting personal images, I have found it pretty easy just to use Google Plus.

In the webmasters post... STEP 4.. that pic.. the one where it shows to select either one or the other... in Imgur? select one of them, highlight if you have too.

CTRL + C (to copy to already existing "clipboard" built in all versions of windows)

select area in post to place copied code

CTRL + V ( to paste code into post.. from the already unseen built in "clipboard" included in all versions of windows)

Okay, unless I broke something, uppercase BBCode tags should now also be valid in new posts.

This will make links from PhotoBucket, and other sites, much easier to insert -- since the case of the tags shouldn't matter anymore.

Ah . . . good the old way still works too. Some of us Old Farts hate learning new things.

Thanks Larry.

Below is an example of the current IMGUR user interface.

1. Go to IMGUR.COM.
2. Click on "New Post" in the upper left corner.
3. Drag and drop the image file onto the spot where it says to "Drop Images Here".
4. Give your post a title and description.
5. Click on "POST [To Community]"
6. At that point the website prompted me for my username. I don't have one.
7. I backed up in the browser to the previous page where it looked like below.
8. Click the down arrow.
9. Click "Get share links".
10. Click "Copy" on the BBCode to copy the bbcode to your clipboard.

The Hawley Hotel was located on the north side of the 400 block of Main Street where the St. Vincent de Paul store is located today.

I just got this postcard and wasn't entirely positive of where the hotel was.

Thanks Dave!
