I probably have an L.P. Anderson matchbook around someplace. Why do you ask?

As a young and impressionable male, I always appreciated a trip in to get tires fixed.

Ha ha, it occurred to me later... especially knowing you... why you made that inquiry.

Here you go Bridgier. This is from my own personal... ummm... collection.

If I get banned from the site for this it's all your fault.

Jeez. I had no idea L.P.Anderson was a purveyor of porn.

LOL, that's the tip of the iceberg, you should have seen the calendars, pens etc.
Anyhow, framed on the wall of the exhibition hall entry way at the fairgrounds is a very impressive collection of Miles City matchbooks.

Some more great old matchbook covers courtesy of Ike Eichler.

The blue and gold one that is difficult to read is for the Turf Bar which was located at 611 Main St. and must have operated around the WWII timeframe. It seems the liquor license that was being used at the Turf Bar moved to the Olive Hotel and the Turf Bar sat unused. The Leon brothers (Leon Park Nite Club) leased that building from Pete Mincoff (for $75/mo) as a contingency plan because they thought gas rationing during WWII would keep people from driving out to the Leon Park Nite Club. They wanted an in-town location to relocate to if business dropped off at the Leon Park. Gas rationing was never a problem for the Leon Park Club so the Leon bros. never relocated to the Turf Bar location.

A few more great old matchbook covers from Ike.

Does anyone know where Miles City Motor Company (a Buick dealer) would have been located? [EDIT: Miles City Motor Company was (at one time at least) located at 809 Bridge Street. At some point in time it was owned by J.P. Johnson and it was a Chevrolet dealer.]

Was Grant's Billiards (aka Grant's Pool Hall) located on the north side of the 600 block of Main Street?

North side, but man they made good milk shakes, Grants was a neat place for some of us. Loved watching Mr. Lawlor play pool, he was very good. I also ate many times with poor old honest Dick, Welbes that is.

"Men were pigs"
Just remember...A dog will look up to a man.....
A cat will look down on a man....
But only a man can look into a mirror and see a pig....
