I got a new computer but it seems the games didn't transfer to it. I sure miss my solitaire the traditional one that comes with the games. It relaxes me to play a game or two before I head to bed. Does anyone know how to get the games back?

windows 8 blocks the windows games. the new versions are free in the store.

there is a way of putting those old ones back even though microsoft says it is not possible.while i have the tool and files in a folder, you n me had a nasty email thread going so i won't do it for you, but you can look up microsoft.games.patcher.1.2-patch.exe.

sorry for lack of capital letters, with a right crushed wrist it is easier to type without them.

Solitaire (and the other old classic Windows games) aren't built into Windows 8. You can however, as Tim mentioned, download newer Microsoft versions for free from the Windows Store. Just go into the Windows Store area and download from there.

Larry, actually the windows 7 versions will work. The EXE has a version number embedded in it. Windows 8 rejects it because of the embedded number. The file I listed will take the windows 7 games and change it to show 8.

The file shows up on malware scans and some virus scanner so be sure to turn those off while downloading it and running it. Once the file is converted you put it in the folder and make a short cut to it. I have many friends with Win 8.1 running Win 7 Solitaire.

If you want to get it larry I have the games and patcher in a folder for easy install
