Anyone know what is burning and causing all the smoke and smell? The smell is particularly nasty.

KATL Reports it is from fires in the state of Washington. Yikes.

John Pulaski (sp?) weather reports the smoke is from Canada. Probably both correct.

Interesting. Over here in Helena, we have clear skies.

A couple of thunderstorms rolled through last night. I hope they didn't start any fires.

Thanks for listening Mr. Freese.

Andrew Bern just got off the phone with Custer County Fire Warden Bud Peterson.
Peterson tells us, "The smoke and smell is coming from Canada." He expects everything to clear out shortly and does not expect an air advisory to be issued.

There are currently more than 200 wildfires burning in Canada.

New into KATL:

1. The fire source region is in the Boreal Forest in Northern Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Northwest Territories.
2. DEQ Sensors in Malta and near Sidney have shown hazardous air quality.
3. Dense Smoke Advisory has been issued in Northeast Montana.
4. A cold front moving in today should help push the smoke out of the region.

As always, stay with KATL Radio for more information.
