Hal, It is to damn big to fight and there is nowhere to go.

I found this article entirely to intelligent. The short of it, for me was the short paragraph,
What’s most striking here is the language of inevitability: “powerful secular trends,” “the modernizing task at hand,” “the right side of history.”

I am the only contributor to my sleep deprivation. Again, a great read. Are you sure you will some day leave the peninsula?

>> the language of inevitability

Consolidation, centralization . . . kinship groups into clans, clans to tribes, tribes to states, states to nations, nations into ??

That seems to be the thrust of history. Is globalization the end game? I hope not. We are a self-destructive species. I hope the goal we’ve been building towards is the stars. If we can break free of the mother planet there should be enough elbow room to insure survival of the species. Room enough to perhaps to decentralize.

We just need to get past the great filter.

Yeah, well, the one sure thing is that you can't roller skate in a buffalo herd. Wait, should roller skate be hyphenated, one word or two, or left to its own devices? No matter, those genius editors at The Atlantic who published this article will probably censor this comment anyway.

After all, they also published this article, http://www.theatlantic.co...ts/384980/ last month, asserting that ISIS was all about religion (lauded in this forum on another thread), which was fairly debunked by The Guardian six days ago by this article, http://www.theguardian.co...ays-report.

Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug.
