Miles City Fire Captain Branden Stevens said Monday officials received a call around 3:31 p.m. on Sunday reporting a fire had broken out on the 800 block of Doeden Avenue.
Stevens said one adult male died at as a result of injuries suffered in the fire. His name and age have not been released.
Both homes are a complete loss. The damage estimates are valued at $250,000 to $300,000.
Both residences were single family homes. The adult male who died reportedly lived in one of the residences. Several people lived in the second home, and officials said they made it out unharmed.
Stevens said he wanted to remind the public that during an emergency it's important for residents to keep clear of the scene so emergency crews can work.
