I kind of think that if there's no names available, then these kinds of posts aren't particularly useful.

Unless you're expressing condolences to the family, there really is no need for this kind of posting. We will see and hear enough bad news as it is.

Billings Gazette: One dead, one injured in crash near Biddle

One dead, one injured in crash near Biddle

July 31, 2014 12:04 pm • By Chris Cioffi

One person is dead and another injured after the pickup they were in hit gravel and lost control on Highway 59 near mile marker 71.

The incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m., 31 miles southeast of Broadus near the town of Biddle, according to Montana Highway Patrol Capt. Keith Edgell.

The driver overcorrected, left the road and rolled three times and was ejected, he said.

The driver was pronounced dead on scene. The passenger was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

Don't think mile marker 71 is near Biddle. Think the accident was mile marker 71, which is north of Broadus a half dozen or so miles.

I agree I think these types of postings should not be posted until there is more info, such as after it has been posted on the newspaper or T.V. news-station website's. Aside from that, my dad was the first person who saw the accident & called authorities & he said it was north of Broadus. Very sad and I feel for the families & friends of all involved.

If there was a school shooting in Miles City, no one should post it on Milescity.com until it is reported in the news media. (I am sure that will work).

If a plane crashes into the NY Trade Center, don't say anything until all 3,000 names are known.

Don't report traffic fatalities because that is bad news and we have enough of that.

I guess you cannot please everybody.
((There was another traffic fatality around Alzada the same day. There are many who consider this news, but I am sure going to take some heat for mentioning this news item). I didn't check to see if it has been listed yet in the news media (It is on the Montana Highway Patrol site), it is bad news, and I am not listing the name))

There are some potholes north of Biddle. Drive too fast and they will make life rough for you. Sad deal.

There is a big difference between a terrorist attack and just reporting every single traffic fatality for the day. So is what you started really necessary. Gee there was a traffic fatality, there are a lot of them everywhere everyday. Are you going to be the town crier for all of those too.

Colorado Springs Gazette:
Colorado Springs man killed, another injured in Montana crash

Colorado Springs man killed, another injured in Montana crash

By Matt Steiner
Updated: August 1, 2014 at 12:09 pm

Robert Taylor, a 39-year-old Colorado Springs man, died Thursday morning in southeastern Montana after the pickup truck he was in drove off the roadway and rolled, the Montana Highway Patrol said.

Powder River County coroner Russ Kinzer confirmed that Taylor died after the crash that also sent a 33-year-old Colorado Springs man to a local hospital. The condition and identity of the injured man had not been released by noon on Friday. A spokeswoman for the Highway Patrol said it was unclear which man was driving during the wreck that happened about 9:20 a.m. on Montana Highway 59 southeast of Broadus.

According to the report, the vehicle drifted off the road. When the driver tried to correct the path, he lost control and vehicle tumbled to its resting place alongside the highway.

A co-casualty in this fatal crash appears to be accurate reporting in both the Billings Gazette and the Colorado Springs Gazette. When information is there for all the world to see it's hard to understand why reporters can't get it right. Mercifully, I'll save my rant about the Star's recent coverage of recent Airport Commission decisions for another time.

Don had his facts straight in his original post and the evidence is there for anyone who takes the time to either follow his reference to the MHP Traffic Incidents site (https://app.doj.mt.gov/ap...WebClient/) or drive by the crash site at MM71 on Hwy. 59 S., which is NW of Broadus.

Contrary to the Billings Gazette report, there is no "patch of gravel" to hit at the crash site, just straight and dry pavement in excellent condition with a set of solid black skids laid down at a 45 degree NE angle from the southbound lane across the northbound lane and extending through the ditch.

Martha, my condolences on the loss of your son. I can not imagine the pain of losing a child.

If you click on "JessicaN's" name in the header of her post above you can send Jessica a private email via this website. That might give better results than hoping she sees this discussion again and contacts you.
