We (Recreation Lanes) are tossing around the idea of starting an organized youth bowling league again this fall/winter. Years ago, before hockey, soccer, little guy football, etc. etc. we had a great youth league. We would need a minimum of 24 kids (ages 8-18) to make this a worthwhile endeavor. Day and time is yet to be determined......just looking for some feedback...any interest out there?

Back in the Dark Ages, i.e. the 1970s, bowling was HUGE around Miles City. Two bowling alleys and stuff going all the time. No smoke machines and we had to keep score with pencil and paper. I couldn't bowl for squat but I learned how to keep score and used to do that while friends bowled. We had fun!

People who complain kids have nothing to do should look into this!

My 16 year old son would love to do this! Great plan Dwayne! I took part in a Saturday morning league here when I was a kid and there were even tournaments for us. Good memories!

Maybe ask this question on one of the Miles City facebook pages. Just a thought!

And a great thought it is. I will put Karla on the task, she is the "facebooker" in the family. Thank you for the idea!

Hey, you know it is really irritating to see posts on this site encouraging people to use Facebook instead of MilesCity.com. It is a slap in the face.

Not instead of, but in addition to.

Sorry, I understand. It's just that there have been other (reoccurring) comments posted here directing people to use Facebook rather than the services provided by MilesCity.com, and my frustration came out above. My reply wasn't directed at you. Regards, Larry

Sorry this bothers you, but some options are easier to use on other sites. Maybe a few upgrades like pictures, and an easier interface to add videos and links, etc.... Such as a click to add a link ... and wholla the tags are put in place. I find most people do not understand what it takes to post effectively in this site.

Another suggestion is when you post a topic, maybe a notice when you log in that there has been a response. I have lost threads because of this lack of a feature.

On the other hand, you see me on here, that is merely because I choose this site as my preference.

Sorry for the lag time, we have busy organizing our adult leagues. Here is our plan for youth bowling leagues this fall.

Bantam League:
Mondays at 4:00 PM October 20 - December 8 (8 weeks)
This will be a bumper league for younger bowlers
Kids must be able to swing the ball with one arm
Kids will bowl two games per week
Cost is $50.00 for the season

Junior League:
Mondays at 4:00 PM October 20 - December 8 (8 weeks)
No bumpers in this league
Kids will bowl three games per week
Cost is $75.00 for the season

You can register your children anytime during business hours between now and October 20. If you have any questions, please call Recreation Lanes at 874-9918 or my cell is 951-2695. Thank you for your help.

Lanes are open today 1:00 PM-9:00 PM. Great day to get your young bowlers registered for league. We need a minimum of 12 kids per league to get this program off the ground. Thank you.

We used to have a blast bowling in bantam/junior league when we were kids. The only bad part about it was it was on Saturday morning which got in the way of watching cartoons.

If I was living in Miles City my kids would surely sign up for this. At $50/$75 for 8 weeks (16/24 games) it really is a bargain. I spend $50+ to take my kids bowling here in the Seattle area and we only get the lane for 1 hour. We typically struggle to finish 2 games in under 1 hour.

I'm assuming there wasn't enough kids for the junior league bowling on Monday nights....? We showed up and no one there. Sons very dissapointed... Once the weather gets bad, kids will be wanting something to do.
