It is my understanding that the young man was a teen visiting here from Utah. What a horrible thing to have happen. My prayers go out to his family and other who loved him.

To those who took the life jackets from Spotted Eagle please read the front page of tonight's Miles City Star. Let your conscience be your guide.
My condolences to the family of the young boy.

I noticed the life jackets were missing. When ever we are out there, fishing or swimming we end up picking them up off the beach & putting them away. Also noticed the vandalism (spray paint) on the rest rooms. Its disgusting the respect some people have any more. They don't appriciate anything.
They (Walleyes unlimited) have worked so hard to make a nice recreational place for the community. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful place to go.
Thoughts and prayers to the family & friends of the young man.

This is such a tragedy! I am continually surprised that there aren't more at Spotted Eagle. Miles City has a beautiful swimming lake - The Oasis - staffed with trained life-guards. Why is Spotted Eagle still open to swimmers???

People still get hit by cars and trucks, makes me wonder why cross walks are still open?

Yes it is a tregedy but why shut it down to everyone else? Mistakes happen it's not like he was forced to swim there, he was there with family the reports say. A body of water like spotted eagle should be there to be enjoyed by all.

As a microbiologist by training, I disagree with the assessment that the Oasis is nasty. Have to agree with George Carlin on this one.

Spotted Eagle is filled by the outflow of fish hatchery. The Oasis flows from the river, through settling ponds, and is treated. Go to City Hall and ask for the e.Coli and other disease reports comparing the Oasis to Spotted Eagle. Spotted Eagle is FILTHY in comparison.

Hey, if you wish to discuss the swimming pool (or lack there of, depending upon your view), please start a new thread. Thanks.
