How to tell if your judge is out of touch

Kid in Billings is making restitution for vandalism. Judge complained the kid wasn't getting the restitution done fast enough and the kid should get a "real job." Kid works fast food and earns $9.50 an hour. Obviously, judge has no clue what 'real jobs' consist of these days.

Can you post a link to a newspaper article?

9.50? That's pretty good money for a teen.

With vandalism on his record, that kid may never get a "real job."

"Baugh also revoked Turell’s sentence for felony counts of robbery and burglary from 2009 and ordered him into Department of Corrections custody until he reaches age 25 in 2018.

After the sentences were pronounced, a detention officer handcuffed Turell and led him out of the courtroom."

So much for paying restitution.

Judge Baugh has proven himself to be out of touch on prior occasions. I thought he'd been removed from the bench, guess I was wrong.

He was suspended or something but apparently is back until his term runs out. Everyone he sentences should sue on the grounds he is incompetent.

Judge Baugh is so old and incompetent. I testified in his courtroom. He couldn't remember anyone or anything they said. He would hear testimony to something that had happened then turn right around and say "you should try that". What a waste of people's time and money to go into his court.

I agree that everyone who has ever had a judgment done in his court should have their case reopened.

And yes, he is being publicly censured July 1st.

Story about him on USAToday - http://www.usatoday.com/s.../11351949/

There should be better systems in place to oversee law enforcement, lawyers, and judges. Not just in MT, but everywhere. Each group gets to police themselves, with very inconsistent and sometimes harmful results.

Baugh is a nut. And if his cronies had integrity they would have intervened long ago.

As usual, papers and reporters put their slant on how they want the story to be heard instead of reporting the news. Not to say that these stories should not be investigated by citizens, but as a citizen, target a sitting District Court judge and you will be targeted.Simply put. There will be none of this nonsense and this will be enforced.A District Court judge is a very powerful man or woman.Their power does not somehow end when they leave the courthouse.

Any "cronie" that jumps on the bandwagon with an investigation opens him or herself up to the exact same scrutiny. Not likely to ever happen. Unfortunately.

And then Huss steps in to take over for sentencing. There are no words...well, actually yes.

Why would they choose a judge who also was found to have not followed the law (after complaints to the state judicial commission) in a case this important? A case that is going to be covered nationwide?
