CCDHS School Song
Posted by Mary_Beth (+13) 8 years ago
Can someone please tell me the name of the school song for CCDHS? I'm doing a slide show for my Dad's 75th birthday and he is a huge Cowboy football fan. I wanted to put the song in the slide show during the football pictures.
Thanks!

I believe the tune is Illinois Loyalty.

MeiMei is correct, unless they changed it from 30 years ago.

It is still Illinois Loyalty. Here's the first verse (memorized):

We’re loyal to you, Custer High
We’re steadfast and true, Custer High
We’ll back you stand against the best in the land
For we know you have sand, Custer High
So fall on that ball, Custer High
We’re backing you all, Custer High
Our team is our fame protector
On boys, ‘cause we expect a
Touchdown from you, Custer High!

CHE-CHA! HAHAHA! CHE-CHA! HAHAHA! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE!

(I have the lyrics to the second verse at home, but it's not memorized - I'm slipping).

Here are some other, less official, Cowboy songs (sung by the team before and after games):

We are the Watusi, we’re seven feet tall
We fight the Nairobi, they’re no good at all
Their cannibals may eat us, but they’ll never beat us
‘Cause we’re the Watusi, we’re seven feet tall

UNGAWA! UNGAWA! UNGAWA!

We are the Cowboys, we don’t give a damn
We’re out to beat Central and anyone we can
To hell, to hell with Sidney, to hell with Glendive too
And if you’re not a Cowboy, to hell, to hell with you

COWBOYS ONCE, COWBOYS TWICE, HOLY JUMPIN’ JESUS CHRIST! AWWWWWW S**T!

I hope the second 'song' has been retired.

I remember the line about "we're full of sand" in the official school song because the lyrics were written in the early '20s and that meant we're tough and determined, but it sounds a bit odd today.

I also remember singing the song in the auditorium and all anyone ever sang loudly was the chee chaw hah hah hah, because that was all anyone remembered. They now have the lyrics posted on a big banner in the gym, which must help the singing.
