Miles city business ideas

What kind of businesses or services does Miles City need? Is there a need for tutoring? Products you like that you wish were readily available? Things that would be helpful for oil patch workers? I know there has been this kind of discussion in the past, but wonder about current ideas. Thanks!

Miles City needs a blue collar bar... or so I'm told.

I think a co-op would be amazing. Get a bunch of people together and buy the old Ben Franklin building. Sell shoes, clothes, and other things that are in short supply in MC. It is a huge building. Someone could run the lunch counter. Crafts and hobby supplies are also needed. So many ideas. And each dollar spent there would be one less going to Walmart!

I hear tell that Miles City needs an indoor pool, and a YMCA.

Whatever business gets started needs to be decently capitalized. I have seen several folks open a business on a wing and prayer rather than adequate funding and decent business plan. They open. They close.

We need an Olive Garden. I'm getting tired of ordering my salad dressing over the internet.

I agree with Tim W. A Rec Center would be so great. Whenever I am in Parker, CO, I take my granddaughter to a Rec Center for Swimming. So many things going on in the building...so much for families to do together and the cost per family is $60/month.

Thanks everyone. The co-op idea sounds interesting. Anyone else think that would fly?

Forsyth has a pool that seems to be barely able to stay open. Would we have enough support here to keep one going?

I have always thought that a topless shoeshine stand on Main Street would bring a certain panache to the central business district. The capital outlay would be minimal and the returns would be substantial.

I am all for Tucker's idea as long as he is NOT one of the shoe shiners! LOL

You are on the right track to be considering a service business. I do not live in Miles City so I can not be specific about a need. However, bonded cleaning services are in demand most everywhere.

What we really need is a shoe/clothing store that is not Wally World, not western wear and not athletic wear. Which requires knowledge and capitalization.

There are tons of services and goods that are needed in this town, none of which are more important than something positive that kids can join that doesn't cost a fortune, can be done all year, and you don't have to make a commitment to it. Yes, I am talking about a skating rink! I have been actively trying to start a rink in Miles City for over a year, but I have came up against bankers and business men who only really want to back anything but retail, and restaurants, and casinos. I can't blame them they are familiar with those business models. A new rink is long over due especially with all the new ones popping up around us. We can start friendly rivals with nearby speed teams and provide the town with a new attraction. LET ME KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU OUT THERE THINK THIS SOUNDS FUN!!
YES ROLLER SKATING!!

A roller skating rink would be awesome!! Plus, with a rink we could have ROLLER DERBY. Billings needs some more competition!!

Got to love roller derby! Let's face it everything is better on roller blades! We have a business plan, skates, and the will to enact it just short of funding 20,000 more and we could see this happen. It's been a long road.

If not for about $80-90,000 in tax dollars yearly, it would NOT be able to stay open.

Roller skating rink was done a few years ago. Parkway Rollercade...it lasted maybe a couple years but ultimately didn't make it. Was fun while it lasted, though.

Gave Gunnar time to point this out and apparently he isn't going to do it; the ultimate serive business addressing the questions above involves a stripper pole.

And a business called KC's axe grinding service available 24/7/365 would be good.
