I've been watching periodically to see if any comments were made about the Benghazi attack. Do you have an opinion as to if this was, and is, a conspiracy? Any comments about Clinton's comment""What difference does it make?" or Art Carneys downplay of the attack?
You're a pretty politically savvy group. I thought you would have some definite opinions in light of the new info coming out. Sure like to hear them!

Unemployment is down, more people signed up under the ACA than in anyones wildest dreams, the only was the republicans have to stay relevant is by banging the Behghazi drum. That's all you need to know.

I usually don't bother to reply to political discussions on this forum, it isn't always pretty if you have a different view than the majority on here. Think about this though, what if the four that were killed in Benghazi were one of your husbands, fathers, sons, or brothers, would the statement of "what difference at this point does it make" make a difference to you?? I for one wonder why the military wasn't sent in, they didn't know how long the attack would last, so why not try to send help for those who had been asking for it. I couldn't imagine sitting in the situation room and watching this attack happen in real time and just do nothing to try to help. Why are some documents being classified after the fact? Why is it that this administration is dragging their feet turning over documents that have been asked for? Why is it that every time a new piece of information comes out the story changes? I know I will probably be ridiculed and criticized for my opinion but that is the beauty of this country, I am allowed to have an opinion, and mine is that there is some BS going on in the white house and in this administration.

Carol H, I think you make some great points. I have wondered how they could say they couldn't get there in time. As you mentioned, how could any one know how long this attack would go on. Plus diplomatic security specialist David Ubben was severely injured and on a roof top for at least 20 hours before being rescued. Why did it take so long to rescue him? re: the situation room...we are now learning that the President was not in the situation room while the attack was going on.

exactly, where was he, shouldn't he have been there? I say yes, and he also should have stayed in the white house the next morning when he jetted off to a fund raiser, I think the lives of American people are more important than any fund raiser. Then there is the issue of Susan Rice going on five Sunday talk shows and feeding the American public a line of BS. They all knew from the get go that this was not a spontaneous protest based on a video but yet even two weeks later our president stood in front of the UN and referenced the youtube video numerous times. Like I said before the whole thing just smells of B.S.

It's ironic that republicans want to make a big deal out of four deaths, but won't lift a finger to help the thousands of LIVING military personnel in the VA system. Why is there no outrage about this

Yes, it's absolutely tragic that four soldiers died in a battle that few understand what or why it happened. It's tragic that anyone dies in war. But you're a FOOL if you think congressional investigators care one iota about those who died. The REAL coverup here is how congress (and "Lion Snooze") are attempting to direct the sheeple's attention away from issues that would benefit the American public... like taking care of our veterans.
Top
Posted by Carol H (+125) 8 years ago
I never said I wasn't outraged at the recent news about veterans dying because they aren't able to get medical attention, this is a thread about Benghazi. I think it is absolutely awful they way our veterans are treated. I also think that the death of the four Americans in Benghazi is outrageous, I think help should have been sent, two of the four were killed some 8 hours after the attack started. I am also outraged because I feel as an American I deserve to know the truth. Maybe congress can get to the truth maybe they cant, it would be a lot easier to get the truth if all the BS was lifted and people started telling the truth, don't ya think?

which diplomats are you referring to? Before the attack in 2012, five US ambassadors were killed my militants, they were, JG Mein Guatemala, 1968 (ordered out of his limo and gunned down in Guatemala City by guerrillas, under Nixon.)
CA Noel Jr, Sudan 1973 (Killed by guerrillas militant group Black September in the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Sudan, under Carter)
RP Davies, Cyprus 1974 (shot during a protest against the Embassy after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, under Carter.)
FE Melloy Jr, Lebanon 1976 (Melloy, his economic advisor and his driver were kidnapped by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and shot to death, under Carter.)
A Dubs, Afghanistan 1979, (kidnapped by militants demanding the release of Badruddin Bahes, an imprisoned leader, Dubs was found dead Kabul, under Regan.
Source....State Department, the Washington post published this September 12, 2012. If there are any other diplomats other than that could you please site them, evidently the State department is missing a few if there are more.
If the truth has already been told then why is it that the documents to this day are being altered? Why is it that it has taken over a year and a half for documents to be turned over? You ASSUME that I am not outraged over many things.

Charles Woods, father of slain Navy Seal Ty Woods provides more info on the subject. And yes, I know, many of you don't like Fox or Sean H. I'm not a fan of Sean H. either. But I thought this clip from Charles Woods was interesting.
I think if a reasonable response was made and the efforts to blame the attack on a video were not made, this would be at rest.

Where is the upset over the lies that were sold to the American people over Iraq? Remember 'weapons of mass destruction?' A whole lot of people died over that lie and all the Republicans are doing is trying to bring back Dick Cheney.

Stop watching Faux News, period. Especially Mr. Hannity, who wouldn't know the truth if it bit him. If you must get your news from a slanted news source, I highly recommend the National Journal, which is available on-line. You have to read it, mind you, but it is written by intelligent people who are concerned with the state of the world, not the sock puppets of Rupert Murdoch who would say anything to get ratings.

After that 28 day period, come back and let's discuss this again.

What the Heck, it's a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Please, define the 21st Century usage of "hypocrisy". I always thought it was like a double edged sword, dependent upon your view of a person or event. In other words, in this case it could be defined both ways.

Amorette, it's sad that you would not consider the interview clip with Charles Woods, father of slain Navy Seal,Ty Woods because the interviewer is Sean Hannity. I do not watch Sean's show but came across the clip through another source. I wanted to hear Charles Woods point of view and what information he had to offer since he is much closer to the situation than any of us will ever be.

I'm with Amorette on this one. If insanity told me that the sun is gonna come up tomorrow, I'd want it verified by 3 non biased researchers. The man is incapable of telling the truth.... And he leads an interview to exactly the outcome demanded, and expected on fox. "I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but it was Obama that actually kidnapped the Lindbergh baby" Is there any proof of that? Maybe not, but there is no evidence he didn't do it either.....A fox news special commentary for your entertainment...

I'd love to see another recent interview clip with Charles Woods with another network. If you're aware of one, please post it. I thought Charles Woods was well spoken and although Sean Hannity may be a "sock puppet of Rupert Murdoch" as Amorette would say, I don't think Charles Woods is. Do you?

I saw a video clip of Charles Woods with Geraldo Rivera and Mr. Woods seemed to be implying that President Obama was a coward and personally responsible for his son's death. I would say Mr. Woods was a horribly bereaved father of a dead soldier and possibly an avid watcher of Fox News.

addendum,

After further research into this terrible disease, it has now been learned that there is a strain that only affects the left lobe of the brain. It could prove to be fatal to those affected, at the worst, the strain can multiply, and try to be contagious. Protect yourself by being informed. Sorry, I can't post the link.

Here.

Let me bump it.

More twisted Leftist junk from the deranged Bush haters.

Yes, we do know how to Google and actually analyze the results. There are 10 attacks listed in the graphic. In all 10 attacks, there was 1 (one) US Diplomat killed. David Foy was killed by a car bomb in front of the Marriott Hotel in Karachi, Pakistan. In addition, 1 (one) US civilian was killed on the street, while waiting to get into the Embassy in Yemen, when it was attacked in September of 2008. A Yemeni-American woman from New York, married to a Yemeni National.

None of these attacks dragged on for any length of time and in many cases, the surviving perpetrators were later killed or captured and imprisoned.

60 deaths are touted. Most of them were security and local populace. Innocent bystanders, killed by car bombs or stray ordnance in the attack. The number also includes in the total, the attackers/bombers who were killed by the defenders. Victims of their own actions.

There should be outrage here. Outrage from the Yemeni or Pakistani (or Libyan) Government. But they choose to look the other way, while civilians and the Diplomat Core they have agreed to protect, are slaughtered by extremists.

There should also be outrage for a Government that sits on it's hands for 8 hours while Americans are under fire..and then lies about how and why it happened.
