The Cowtown Cookoff has been accepted by the Kansas City BBQ Society to participate in the 100KCBS Feeding America mission. The KCBS will pay for one pork butt for each team to cook, and that meat will be donated to the Miles City Soup Kitchen to vend as part of the fundraiser. Can you say pulled pork sandwiches?

The Miles City Food Bank will also be at the event collecting non-perishable food items. We invite everyone to come downtown, taste some great BBQ, and bring a can of food as part of this national food drive.

When I got there at 430 there were half the teams already out of meat and closing up. Going to be a lot of disappointed people that didn't eat cause they waited to get down town. I had some and it was great.

So who was the winner?

A local lout with his unpatented, "Well Done Beef Round Steak Marinated in Delmonte Catsup and Sauteed in Bacon Grease" recipe;

or

An out of state BBQ pro with his patented "I have beat hicks like you clowns with this simple recipe from here to Timbuktu, and I am only doing this to gain enough qualifying points for nationals" recipe?

Inquiring minds want to know.

A team from Bozeman won I heard but I missed the judging and did not get to taste the winner as they were already out of meat by 430 when I arrived there.But I made up for it with a few more of these

Really don't know what you folks are complaining about. GypsyKim did a nice job of posting times in this post on milescity.com. I got there at 4:30pm, in time to sample meat from several exhibitors. Then I took home two of the combos meals the Soup Kitchen was selling for $6. Just finished eating that for Sunday lunch, and it was wonderful. Yes, I planned to get there at 4:00pm, but was delayed a bit.
