Electricity out 2 nights
Posted by TDF (+158) 8 years ago
The electricity has been off last night and the night before. After the first black-out, we were unable to turn on our Panasonic flat screen television. Its only 18 months old. Yes, the fuses are all on. Anyone know a fix for this? Its Model #TC-P50X5

You probably had a power surge and burnt something up inside. Google it. They were planned power outages.

This person claims that after leaving the set unplugged for an extended period (1-2 days) it then powered on again:

"I have the same problem. Just happened yesterday. This is actually the third time now. The first time, 4 months ago (only 3 months old) we couldn't get it to turn on again, we had unplugged (TV off) it to move some cords around, plugged it back in and ... nothing. Waited for several hours. Still nothing. Called the number in the manual and had a tech come out. It sat unplugged for a few days, and when the tech came in, he walked in the door, plugged it in and turned it on...? No charge luckily.

Happened again a few weeks ago. same scenario, but this time it came back on after sitting plugged in for about 15 minutes."

Same person posting again:

"So I let it sit UNPLUGGED for a day. Turned on this morning. I think that's what happened the last 2 times it wouldn't turn on and I fixed it."

David - that's exactly what happened to me. We unplugged the TV for a day and night. It must have cooled off or something because when we plugged it in, it worked as if nothing was wrong. Thanks for your input Cubby and David.

Glad to hear it's working again.

You might want to get a good quality surge protector for the tv.
