Everyone read the clues more closely, as one world in the clue may lead to the answer.

As far as I know Beaver slide is a hay stacker and a ranch name not a Montana place.

# 38 Famed early day road=Bozeman

# 52 Old time beauty queen actress= Meriwether
# 58 Famed Indian war widow=Libby

[This message has been edited by Oddjob (3/29/2014)]

I was looking at Hollywood types like (Lee) Meriwether and (Cybill) Shepherd (who I also guessed at) because "Beauty Pageants" per se, didn't really take off until the '40's and '50's. The only other "classic actress" I could find was Lombard from Mack Sennett's "Bathing Beauties" which wasn't a competition. So it didn't seem to fit....

Is Meriwether the answer you were looking for?

My last guess before I blow out of this snowstorm for sunny Mexico.

I'm going with Meriwether and Spear which may have also been missed.

# 52 Beauty Queen is a metaphor and not literally. Maybe beautiful 0r simply Beauty would interpret better.

After further review, The clue could contain Beauty Queen.

Does Actress still apply to #52 along with the Beauty Part. If so
Then I would guess Turner as in Lana Turner.
And on closer checking you're right there is no Spear Mt. so I'm guessing 54 as Forks.

Jackson has been used and #54 has no connection to a Jackson.

Wright Montana is around Judith Gap and Ryegate, according to my map, but probably not the town looking for. Washoe is a famous chimp and the article I read said he was from Nevada City, so I would be surprised if that were not the correct city.
