Ike said: "Hint 6 has part of the answer in the clue"

So from that I infer the answer must contain:

"TV", "series", and/or "place".

Basically down to three: 16)NW reservation town. There is a Warm Springs reservation in Washington, Warm Springs has been used. Blackfeet is incorrect, Crow Agency might be it. There is also a Crow Rock, or it could be something else. I think the town of Flathead is still in the running.

#19) Pike's town: Three listed are Divide, Fort Peck, and Apex. Havre (home of "Northern" is incorrect.) Climax is a possibility, yet.Might be none of these.

#32) Point between the Missouri and Yellowstone (I assume these are both rivers. )
Wolf Point is outside of the area. Reed Point (I think) is just inside the area. Young's Point and Rocky Point both fit. A point is also a tine, so Valentine would fit. Apex and Climax are outside the area. And the answer could be something else.

#11) Feudal Fortress is confusing. It seems that Castle is the answer, but the answer has to be a town or place, now or in the past and that would mean that there is or was a Castle, Montana somewhere.

I have been to Castle. It was on private land and I heard he bulldozed all the buildings because of all the visitors. After Googling it I see that it was also known as Castle City, but in modern times never heard of it being known to be anything but just Castle. Used to collect antique bottles and have a couple from there.

But Ike missed "Bannack" from that same post so it's possible he missed Kalispell. Ike?

My reasoning for picking "Lewistown" for #32:

# 32 Point between the Missouri and Yellowstone

Is that Lewis pointing?

I think Lewistown has been used Jerry (Lewistown)

For #16 there a is a town called Comanche, but it does not fit the clues.

Stan, just noticed your answers. 17 and 42 have previously been correctly answered as Cat Creek and Marsh.

To All-- Most of the latest thinking is off track. Change your tactics.

I would like to see someone win, and no one has come close to # 16, so will shorten the game to 49 and concede # 16 as Babb.

First to get the rest is the winner.

Pike Landusky

I've been by Zortman many times. Never noticed a town name "Landusky" though.

Too funny, this site says his name was Powell Landusky:

I kept thinking that it was "Spike" and probably read about him a long time ago in one of Granville Stuart's or Teddy Blue Abbott's books. Figured that Oddjob made the connection when I guessed Zortman.

Google Landusky Montana. Montana history will show "Pike" was killed by the Wild Bunch's Kid Curry. Doubt many at the time knew his real name was Powell.

I see there is a town of Knife River in Richland County. Maybe Knife (point)River would work. Can't tell if it is btwn the two rivers.

This is what I found:

http://www.jstor.org/disc...3743293297

Another website lists Zortman as being 5 miles away from Landusky. Back in the day I worked for Pegasus Gold at another property when the Montana mine was in operation. They always hyphenated the name as Zortman-Landusky so I always assumed it was two different places. I have personally never been there.

While Zortman is five miles away from Landusky as the crow flies, the former Pegasus mine separates the two, so it is a long drive from one to the other.

Both Zortman and Landusky were towns that grew around underground gold mines that opened in the late 1800s. In the late 1970s, Pegasus Gold opened open pit mines near each town. Over the years, the mines expanded until their footprints merged, hence the hyphenated name. At the time the mines were closed in 1998, the Landusky mine facilities was roughly twice the size as the Zortman mine facilities in terms of disturbed acreage.

While Zortman is still a real town with a gas station, bar, and cafe, as well as year round residents, Landusky consists of summer cabins and a summer camp for kids (I can't recall if it is a church camp or a boy scout camp). I'm pretty sure no one lives there year round.

Here’s my last best guess at this puzzle as I will be leaving town for a couple of days. If it’s wrong then good luck to the rest of the remaining contestants.

Congratulations to Stan. There were some tough ones in that list.

You guys should see the 41" x 64" map of Montana I have and the half-sphere magnifying glass I have been using to pore over the map.

And thanks to Ike for the time and effort to put these together. There were some real head scratchers in this last one.
