Mountain Lion spotted! Tongue River by Fair Ground

Mountain Lion in the area by the tongue river and fairgrounds spotted!

Got this tonight from a friend.

HI Guys, Just got back from coffee. I drove the dike on my way back to the shop. Just across the Tongue River at the back North side of the Fair Grounds on the Tongue River bank I saw a mountain lion. Rather large and looked at me for a few seconds before jumping over the berm towards the infield of the Fairgrounds. It took me a second to realize what I had just seen. Shocked to death. Each day I drive the dike to check on a small bunch of ten mule deer that feed and stay by the fairgrounds on the river bank. I have not seen then for about ten days.
Wondered why and now I know. Being hunted made them move to another area. Have been here all my life and never seen anything like this.
These cats are amongst us and very close. Now I know why I am armed 24/7... God shows us these things to bring us into perspective. Montana is a great State. We have things that others only think of seeing. Seeing is believing.
A great sight.. Glad I got to see one even at one hundred and eighty yards on the edge of town.

Thought that you would like to know. If you live here keep an eye out of your own showing.

This person is very lucky to not have been attacked and eaten alive.Remember never to drive with your windows down hence you are opening yourself up to a random attack. Also never go hiking in the area mentioned with a bleeding chicken tied to your back. You can never be too careful.Maybe the wolves on the edge of town will drive these menaces away.

That is the most rediculous response I have ever read. These animals are more afraid of you then you are of them and you have a better chance of being attacked by a dog in town. Mountain lions have always been around here and nobody has ever been attacked.

Thanks for posting this Tim , interesting the cat would be that close to town . I am sure some others appreciate your posting this too , I heard of an incident where cattle stampeded out of a feedlot a couple years ago near my place. Cattle had ran several miles, one at least, crossed the river and I found it dead, where it went of a bank and landed down by the rivers edge.

Rediculous? I thought NDJ was offering sage advice.

I, for one, never walks around with a bleeding chicken tied to my back when I am in mountain lion country.

Or use a jar of honey for a pillow in bear country.

I'll never do that again.

I thought the honey jar was OK as long as it didn't have "HUNNY" spelled out in Comic Sans font on it.
