How fast is your internet connection?

Things always seem slow here- and I suppose that shouldn't be surprising. There are no landlines between here and the rest of the world. Our local ISP connects to the Outside via satellite - we have a wireless connection to them. It seems to me we're doing little better than dialup - except I don't wait for the modem to call in and connect

I'd be curious to see how the numbers compare from different locations around the continent if anyone would care to post their results.

I ran the test using the recommended server (Prince Rupert):
217 kb/s download
24 kb/s upload

Then ran it using a Seattle server:
216 kb/s download
22 kb/s upload

Denver server

1334 kb down, 770 up

Undisclosed server near the public library from where I post

1265 down
603 up

My home computer in the Seattle area -> Seattle, WA:

4869 kb/s - down
366 kb/s - up

725 KB upload
688 KB download

Using the Grand Forks (GRAND FORKS?!?!?!?) server, I got 1535 down and 183 up.

I got 266 up and 266 down on server in Boise, Idaho.

On my mac I get 5924 Up 381 down. I need to check out my laptop.
