Mount Calvary Cemetery
Posted by Diane Winters (+10) 9 years ago
I am trying to locate the burial of Sarah A. Jellison. Her MT death certificate states she was buried in Miles City and the Miles City Daily Star reported "Interment will be in the Mount Calvary cemetery." Her husband at the time, Arthur Jellison, remarried after her death and he & his later wife are buried at Custer County cemetery.

I'm planning a trip that will put me in Miles City around the first of May and would like to visit Sarah's grave. Please, if anyone can help me locate her, I'd truly appreciate it.

Thanks so much,
Diane

That's the Catholic cemetery, which is relatively small. The library and possibly the sexton have a book with grave sites listed, although it isn't 100% accurate.

Thank you! If it's small, I'd be glad to walk it. Do you have an address?

Halfway down cemetery road. This is a small town. When you get here, anyone can point you in the right direction.

You can also check with the Extension office in the basement of the county courthouse. They keep the list of interments there.

That's the sexton who shares space with the extension office.

Do you know where the sexton records are for the Custer County cemetery? I believe some relatives are there as well ~ thanks.

The Miles City Public Library has book put out by the genealogical society about 20 years ago with the locations copied from the sexton's book. The sexton no doubt has a listing as well, although he may be a bit harder to get in touch with than the library, as he is out tending the cemetery.
