Last night at 19:46 MCFR responded to a house fire at 1310 N. Lake in Miles City. The home had heavy fire involvement on arrival and the extreme cold temperatures were a factor. MCFR called mutual aid with CusterCounty VolunteerFire. MCFR responded with 6 apparatus and 17 firefighters. No one was injuried in the fire. Damage is estimated at around $180,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

If you have ever battled a structure fire you would not make a joke like that. This was an occupied structure fire at night in the winter.

I can't believe people make jokes when bad things are happening to people.

"NDJ", if you think I'm rooting for homes to burn, especially 3 days before Christmas, you are wrong. But, I do appreciate your self-righteous attitude. Since you're afraid to use your real name when posting here I can only speculate as to what a true hero you must be.

The only information I had at the time was from "ellie may" (an account on these forums that has an established connection to MCF&R: http://milescity.com/foru...18/#255634) which was simply: "there was a fire. everyone was safe."

"ellie may" often posts in greater detail about fire department related activities. The lack of information led me to believe the fire was not as "large" or severe as Kacey had heard.

Now that I know the address of the home involved, I have reason to believe it is the home of someone whom I consider an old friend. That makes it all the more galling to me, "NDJ", that you and the other anonymous coward known as "Radioman" would suggest that I delight in this family's misfortune.

David Schott,I did not make the post and neither did Radioman. You did.You made the comment-a joke- about an occupied family dwelling,a structure fire at night in December in Montana and now you are calling people names. On top of these acts you somehow justify the joke and claim the people with the loss of their home because of the fire "an old friend" Also you have called MCFRmedic a coward because this person is not using their real name.I can pretty much guarantee you that I have as much time or more on the rolls of a fire department as MCFRmedic and I was injured with 2nd and 3rd degree burns in a fire.I believe there is a firefighter hall of fame in Montana or one in the works if it has not been created.I have not researched it much because I do not really care other than I want my Dad`s name listed, but under the proposed rules I qualify and my name would be or is listed, along with my Father`s.Who David Schott are you to call me a coward.

"NDJ", I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are just terrible at trolling.

David Schott,no matter what, you owe MCFRmedic and myself an apology for calling us cowards. If Radioman is also a fireman you owe all of us an apology.Let`s have it.

in response to NDJ;s question - the occupants of the home have been staying with friends and just recently found local rental property which they hope to move into before month's end. Still homeless are the six kittens that had to be left behind but are still being cared for.

Good. Not that there is ever a good time, but to lose your home and all of your belongings in a fire in eastern Montana in the winter at night in December is not a good situation to say the least.I hope they had insurance but nothing like everyone out alive, pets included.I am not currently involved but there is ongoing work for a shelter in Miles City.Maybe in this instance it would have not been fully utilized as it seems these people had family but if you have not heard about it I am just kind of throwing it out there so people will know.
