Just wondering who told you to write this? You are talking down to everyone. Not a lot of options for those who have lost or found animals in Miles City. So why did you feel the need to write this long diatribe full of redundant instructions? And considering that you have 2 #6's on the top and 2 #1's on the bottom, perhaps you should consider taking care of yourself.

Wow Kacey,

Whether there was a reason to write this post or not, you are coming off as a total jerk. Maybe the poster just wanted to help, and only posted the message in hopes to be helpful. It didn't look like they were trying to talk down to anyone.

But obviously you got butt hurt for some reason.

It has been long established here at mc.com, that when it comes to local animal issues in Miles City, Kacey is completely off her rocker.

I tend to ignore her, but do agree that her idiocy may scare off new mc.com readers/posters. I am not sure what you can do about that, for someone who generally posts reasonable posts except when it comes to Officer Certain and the East Main Animal Clinic. I don't think Larry and Dave have an answer, either.

Sorry to ruin your day! I was asked to post this from several of the animal people in Miles City to help everyone become aware of what to do in these times of need because I do extensive animal care and rescue in this part of the state.

Annie - thank you for this post. it is extremely helpful and the information should be shared as much as possible. When you call dispatch, they will ask several questions. Obviously, description of the animal and whether it is wearing a collar or tags; whether or not it is friendly toward people (which will help in rescuing it) and whether or not it is current with shots. They will also want to know how long the dog has been missing and from where it went missing. If you've found an animal and wish to hold onto it for a time, it might end up saving the owner at Dog at Large ticket, but it is certainly not necessary.
It should also be noted that the number for dispatch and the number for the sheriff's office will be answered by the same dispatcher. County animal calls are different because the county does not co-op with the city for use of the shelter. So, when you call in a found/lost dog, please don't be upset with dispatch if they tell you there is nothing they can do. Unless the dog is vicious, animal control has little or no jurisdiction. People are encouraged to get a copy of the county animal ordinance and contact their commissioners if they have an issue.
Thank you again Annie. Your post is a huge help.

Great info Annie and Jersey Girl! I don't think most people keep this much contact information at hand, especially since none of us EVER let our darlings out of our site..

There's also always new people without the resources or information and new pet owners.

One thing I'd like to emphasize ~ if your animal's been missing, be sure to ask to see what's in the pound, and don't just take the word of whomever is looking at the list. It's difficult to identify many of the breeds and mixed breeds, so anything could be a 'collie' or 'cowdog'.

I think the key to Kacey's animus can be found here: http://milescity.com/foru...ew/327445/ - Annie belongs to the Custer County Fund for Animals, while I believe that Kacey is a lifelong member of the Fund for Animals in Custer County.
