Pity the Republicans aren't in the White House. I bet they could make the gap ever wider.

Sigh.

Wait until you see what kind of coverage and what your premiums are going to be on your healthcare. That is if you ever can get on the web site. My premiums are going up $6,000/year for my family and my deductible is going from $700 to $4,000 according to my agent.

redmondroughneck, I may need you to clarify:

Why are you going through your Insurance Agent if they're just going to gouge you with prices? If you can shop for your insurance, wouldn't it be wise to check out the competitors AND what deductions are available for you to help offset that cost?

Plus, insurance has NOTHING to do with the issue of income equality.

I just listened to a story on NPR this morning, of a hairdresser in Alaska who persevered on the Affordable Care Act website, until she finally got through and it told her she was accepted. Her insurance is going down from $1200 to $119 a month. Obamacare rocks!

She is probably getting subsidies because she has a low-wage job serving ice cream or something.

"Being self-employed, getting my premium at anything reasonable wasn't happening," she says. "I think my last quote was $1,200 a month for myself."
.
.
.
About two hours after she started, she landed on a screen that told her she had successfully enrolled. She was pleasantly surprised by the price. Imler qualified for subsidies and chose a mid-level plan that will cost her $110 a month.

Maybe this will make you "feel good about yourselves."

http://www.npr.org/blogs/...ed-alaskan

"Imler, a 37-year-old hair stylist in Anchorage, ditched her office job as an accountant in 2004. She says she loves making people feel better about themselves and is a lot happier cutting hair than she was sitting in front of a computer. But she does miss one big thing about her old job: "I had health insurance, and it was wonderful.""

"She was pleasantly surprised by the price. Imler qualified for subsidies and chose a mid-level plan that will cost her $110 a month."

--NPR-Morning Edition

So here we have a person who voluntarily quit a job with benefits, (even thought she has health problems) to make "people feel better about themselves", who hit the subsidy jackpot and joined the ranks of the "entitled".

I wonder if the poor taxpaying slobs who are now busting their asses to subsidize her insurance feel better. I know I do.

"ObamaCare rocks" for those who make poor life choices.

I only hope all you Obama drones get to experience how much "ObamaCare rocks" when the deferred Employer Mandate kicks in next year, and your firms boot you into the exchanges.

Oh, Amorette, ObamaCare is very much about "income equality" as in "redistribution of wealth."

Hair stylists shouldn't have health insurance. They made a poor life choice and must suffer accordingly.

Maybe you will feel better knowing that the previously non-paying..aka known as "Free Riders", will now be able to make an apointment and see a doctor rather than go to the Emergency Room where the cost is much higher. In the past, those charges have been applied to the bills of those who have insurance so, that will be a good thing.

It would be interesting to know exactly how much of your tax dollar will go to help with those subsidies as versus the many other subsidized programs, ie; military, farm, etc. and, then..how much ends up with more jobs and into local economies.

We just paid our Real Estate taxes and was surprised to see that we only pay $2.80/year for the library...a place that, to me, is invaluable. Sometimes when all is broken down...you are really not into it that much. Just an example?

Um, she started her own business instead of working for someone else.

That's the definition of an entrepreneur.

You probably don't even know what the word means...it's OK to look it up.

Bob L., in the vernacular of our time she is a "job creator".

If you don't think you are paying for the uninsured now, you are an idiot. It's called cost-shifting and it makes up a substantial portion of every medical bill you pay.
I am referring to the APPALLING gap between the mega-hyper rich and the rest of us. Health insurance is is a minor part of that.
Misdirection will not change the fact that everyone who isn't hyper-rich is getting hosed. Even the plain old rich-rich are getting hosed.

David:

You are correct, sir!

She is a "job creator."

Another way to phrase this: She's a maker, B JOB is a taker.

Its funny that Oddjob and I post links to the same story, with two completely different reactions.

I found it uplifting that a small businesswoman is getting assistance from the government for this horrendous expense.

I personally wouldn't mind if my taxes went up a little in order to help those out who are a little less fortunate than me. I know that's what Jesus Christ tried to teach us.

Oddjob, why do you hate Jesus?
