It looks nice and easy to use. I really like the inclusion of Letters to the Editor.

I think this was a step backwards for them.

At least there is an article newer than Sept. 18th.

The new site will automatically archive, allow us to sell ads and upload photographs. Much better than the old one.

I just checked it out, I think it's great, must be ten times what the old one was. I don't understand the criticism. For years I've gotten articles read over the phone to me, rarely was one featured online that was of great interest to me.
Speaking of which, I just learned that a Kinsey boy stars on the Oxygen channel tonight at 7.

We hope to eventually have a subscription e-edition. I like the archive. Before, we deleted everything after a week or so and once it was gone, it was gone. This is supposed to archive automatically, which will be a huge advancement.

Just because a site doesn't have all the bells'n'whistles doesn't mean it's a bad site. The Billings Gazette site, for example....it's a nice modern site but it's slow loading, clunky, and pretty irritating at times. For example, making you answer "survey" questions in order to read past the first paragraph of an article.

One suggestion: Those letters to the editor....when they refer back to an old article, have a link to said article in the archive. I realize this might be a lot of extra work but it would be nice.

I've called them about their site, and I must admit, it has improved vastly since it was initiated. The questionnaire is to garner funds to pay some folks contributing to the site.

My calls have been relative to the charge to those folks like me that take the paper copy 7 days a week. My wife likes the paper copy, but I like to read on the internet before the paper copy arrives. I go to their site rarely these days.

The Miles City Star will be great when the entire paper goes online for no cost to viewers and the newsfeed is local and up to date. It also will be great when it serves as a source for local real time emergency feeds. Wouldn't hurt to build a link to live scanner feed into it as well, activated for emergencies.

The star has to pay employees in order to function. It is very very hard for small town papers to be placed online for free. There has to be enough advertisement and commercial support for this to happen. I am not expecting that to happen in Miles City.

Why must everything be free or cheap. Why can't people realize that things that cost to make, either by buying supplies or paying employees, needs to be paid. Our local businesses are in business to make money, and it does not make since to give everything away and then struggle financially yourself.

Just my 2 cents worth....
