I need to know the correct way to address a letter to an elderly lady , divorcée for many years but never changed her name.. now is it Mrs. Jane Doe or, just Jane Doe, or Ms. Jane Doe ? thanks for the proper English

Actually, any of them is correct. Mrs. John Doe is the one etiquette says not to use any more.

Any is correct but if you know the lady then you probably know how she refers to herself. Many divorced women stop using MRS. in front of their name and just use their name. I'm sure any way you address it will be fine.

Nice to know some people still believe in etiquette.

The proper etiquette for addressing a divorced woman is Mrs. Jane Doe or Ms. Jane Doe. Using Mrs. Joe Doe indicates her husband is deceased.
