I am looking for information on Adolph "Kid" Brown, the son of early Miles City personage Charlie Brown. The only census I can find him in is 1900 in which he gives his occupation as "gambler". He seems to disappear from the records at an early date. I am trying to see if he could have been in Jordan about 1903. Thank you.

Uncle Kid was my great uncle. I never knew him but met his wife when I was very young. Many stories have been handed down about U Kid, and some are even true. I will try to help if I can.

I had thought of that last night when I found Kid Brown in the 1900 Census and saw who his family members were. I will call Tom, but may also contact you one of these days. Enjoyed the one visit we had years ago at the Garfield County Museum.

National Park Service has file for Klondike gold rushers. Kid Brown is below.

Brown, CG (Kid)
Brown rushed to the Klondike in 1897 then moved to the Copper Basin in 1899 via Valdez. He was associated with the Nizina district mining in 1903. Brown left Alaska in 1911 and settled in Miles City, Montana, where he was still living when contacted by the Sourdough Stampede Association in 1930.

Jim: About the only thing I can add is that Uncle Kid was married to a Paula who was wit and certainly an equal to Uncle Kid. I met her when only 4 - 5 and she entertained the family well. She and Kid had no children I was ever aware of. He spent some time in Florida preparing I think for war in Cuba. I've no idea if he was a Rough Rider. Our info is pretty sketchy and I do thank Cindy for her efforts. Some day I'd like to meet you.
