Miles City ex-pats may be interested to hear that the South Haynes Ave. building that formerly housed Munchies Restaurant (and Brewster's Coffee and KFC/A&W Restaurant) has been demolished.

I'm not sure what, if anything, is planned for that site.

Anyone remember what was in that building before it became Munchies?

From a sponsor's advertisement in the 1981-1982 C.C.D.H.S. Branding Iron yearbook:

"When you get the munchies, head for Munchies where you get more munchies for your money"

It was built as a Gulf gas station. If you put in some test wells I bet you find benzene contaminated soils. I wonder if they ever did a tank yank?

I have vague memories from my youth of a boy falling into some sort of tank or well that was generally behind that location. The boy died. Anyone recall that?

That is actually MilesCity gun battery #1, built for the shelling of Glendive.
Although , once the reds found out about it, they gave into the Mayors ultimatum that Glendive house our excess pigeon population as refugees.

Since they have cooperated, the battery has been removed.

( Yes, we sold it to North Korea, as surplus)

Wouldn't be a bad name for the proposed Japanese restaurant.
