How inhumane can a mayor be
Posted by lakeside (+44) 10 years ago
Seriously we at the Golden Spur have had to watch Craig Dalakow shoot, and beat the pigeons grossly with a tire iron on numerous occasions. As we all know birds are big carriers of disease but they need to be taken care of in humane way. You would not of had the problem to begin with if you woulld of fixed the shelter properly after the fire. Now Craig has screened approximtly 20 some pigeions inside to die a slow death, we will not continue to watch this as i expect you to have them removed in a HUMANE way by this afternoon. This has been a very sad thing to have to watch.

Do you have a humane way to get rid of pigeons? There are tons of them around town polluting up City buildings. If you have some knowledge, please drop it on us (as what the pigeons are dropping is pretty nasty and not doing a lot for the attractiveness and historical health of these buildings).

Butch should put a 50-cent/head bounty on them.

This weekend's special at the Hole in the Wall, Cornish Game Hens.

Trust me, we've Googled and looked... and the options are VERY limited. And the few that exist are costly and modify historic buildings.

Are you interested in helping to defray the cost of pigeon "deterrent measures" on City buildings?

I forwarded this link to the good folk at PITA who are very interested in the fate of the 20 caged pigeons. Someone will be arriving shortly to address the fate of the carcasses.

Pigeon, when cooked, is squab. Very popular in some places. Sadly, pigeons are like rats and cockroaches and other creatures who have adapted to live with humans. Breed like crazy and impossible to get rid of.

You can bet they are starting to nest now. Soon there will be a bumper crop of squabs. I suggest a squab cook-off festival. You can harvest squabs in a few weeks. I'm sure you can find any number of good squab recipes on the internet. My Two Fat Ladies Cook book has a squab recipe. I just saw squab featured in one of the baskets on the Food Channel show, "Chopped" Remember Sam's song at the open mike "Poisoning Pigeons in the park". One line went like this, "It's not against anybody's religion to go out and murder a pigeon".

First of all, what does this thread have to do with the mayor?

Secondly, if I run into a pigeon named John Crapper can I assume he is a "stool" pigeon?

Richard, I was just wondering the same thing. What mayor is being discussed?

The reference to the mayor would be because of the Boardwalk being adjacent to the Golden Spur, and, I am assuming, the place where pigeon control is being attempted. I do have to agree with the original poster. If beating pigeons with a tire iron is taking place, that is not acceptable.

The boardwalk is owned by mayor Buthch Grenz, Craig Dalakow is famiy.Sunday approximately 9pm I went outside with casino customer and caught him shooting them told him to stop or I would call the cops he hurry back in his truck which im sure he knows all guns are illegal in city limits. this is public place and business hours are till 2am. Later that night the janitor is out picking up injured and dead birds off lawn. Tuesday approximately 4:30 casino people go out to smoke to find Craig beating them grossly with iron.On wedneday when I arrive back to work he has caged them all in which im assuming he is poisioning them. On Thursday I call animal control to report no response. After 36 hours of birds being cage in employees and customers were sick of seeing the suffering of the birds. On Friday I finally call Miles City Police department approximately 10am to report the suffering birds, asked dispatch to please send officer and animal control to golden spur, after an hour of waiting still no response. My point this is were I work it is a public place and we shouldn't have to watch the sadistic acts of Craig Dalakow getting his jollys off. It is now one week later and shelter on top of the Boardwalk still has not been fixed which im assuming a $50 bill would take care of. lThis problem has been going on for monthes.I can only imagine what is going in there heating and air conditioning system. Sorry Miles City that the public official can not do there job as im sure of past expierences they no what the consiquiences of mayor bully Buthch will be. Barbie Nicholas

I believe Craig is a convicted felon and if that's true then him having guns in his possession is highly illegal. He's been to prison, just saying

First let me say, I agree that this is a terrible way to dispose of the pigeons. I do wonder though if the Boardwalk and the Spur are in the city limits. I think they may be outside the city limits.

I'm no fan of pigeons, but beating them and starving them is absolutely shameful.

I know people out here that make a decent living, gathering pigeons. I have never caught any, but the guys I know say it is pretty easy, to catch them while they sleep. Here on the coast the popular places are under docks, when the tide is at the right hieght they go under the dock in skiffs and fill gunny sacks with them. They sell them to shooting clubs, the guy I talked to says he gets from $2.50 to $4.00 each for them. Some may not consider this method humane, but it is a alternate idea.

Bridgier that gives me an idea I could let the Spur use one of my air rifles and they could let customers shoot the birds while they have a smoke and a beer. Ben Phipps

If this guy has a felony drug charge, then we sure don't need any guns in his hands. Can we have an officer take a look into this? These eye witnesses do constitute probably cause to search his home for any illegal weapons and drugs.

The man had one hell of a mullet back in day. Haven't seen him in at least 15 years, so i am not sure if he still has it, but his mullet used to be the greatest maybe of all time. I would have classified it as a "bitchin' motley Crüe camero mullet crossed with a squirrel pelt shag. Big dry bug has picture of it somewhere.

I believe Butch received a deferred sentence. That means nothing will be done unless he commits a similiar crime within the deferred period. If he does not commit the same or similiar crime within the deferred period the ticket will then be dismissed and all record(s) of the arrest expunged.

Let's say, for a moment, that we did NOT KNOW he had a felony... would "eye witnesses" alone STILL warrant a probable cause to SEARCH HIS HOME?

Say a hunter, drives up to a fast food window to pick up his food, on his seat is two rifles, unloaded or loaded (how do we know), the drive up window employee, an "eye witness" along with his/her fellow employees, gets freaked out and calls the cops. Do the cops now have probable cause to search the hunters home? How do we KNOW if the hunter has or has not any past felonies? Do we take that chance?

We can argue that since the hunter, dressed up in hunter garb, MOST LIKELY isn't a past felon since he actually has the firearms, but how do we know that?

Anybody help me understand... is there a law that says the eye witness hearsay testimony is enough for probable cause? to search a man's home for killing... pigeons?... er wait... did he actually shoot a bird?

Help me understand cuz that quoted statement bugs me a little

I dont understand why you would raise a hypothetical situation which can be so easily deposed of. This guy has a felony, so why pretend, even for a moment, that he doesn't. If you were to call the cops as an anonymous neighbor, and tell on a potential pot growing operation, then the cops would atleast start making a few trips by the address in order to gain some first hand knowledge. Why would the cops do any less in this situation, maybe because this guy is kin to the mayor. Isn't that favoritism, and shouldn't justice be blind? If this guy with the gun was black, and not well connected, he would be behind bars already. What he is shotting doesn't even matter, there are to many pigeons, but the person shotting them should have to obey the same set of laws as the rest of us.

PS I have a job.

If he was shooting the pigeons, doesn't it seem unlikely that he would have been shooting anything greater than an air gun inside (or that close to) the city limits?

I don't think the U.S. government/ATF considers an air gun to be a "firearm". In the eyes of the U.S. government, convicted felons are not prohibited from possessing an air gun. The State of Montana may have a more restrictive law, but I would be surprised.

Your job must not be too stellar if you don't know that it is shooting, not shotting??? Anyone that can mess this up certainly doesn't have any merit to be throwing stones about someone elses ignorance.
