From your article...

"The law did prohibit Jews and other persecuted classes from owning guns, but this should not be an indictment of gun control in general."

So, the persecuted were denied guns while the persecutors were allowed to have guns. Great argument for gun control.

The point was that Hitler actually relaxed gun control laws for the general public(excluding Jews who didn't have many rights, whatsoever).
But the usual absolutists(and ironically, probably anti-semites)around here wouldn't get that.

I have read several columns discussing how Hitler took guns from the general public. He didn't. He expanded gun rights for the general public. I just like facts to be, you know, actually facts before they get flung around.

There are about ten times as many deaths by gunfire as there are by blunt force trauma every year, too, so people need to stop claiming hammers need to be banned.

I know reality interferes with opinions but I still like it.

Reading this article, I don't believe 90% of it. Just because something is posted on the internet, does that make it true? This was written by a probable neo-nazi German anti-gun advocate. This was 70 plus years ago, so it's hard to prove or disprove it. Be so careful of what you deem as "truth". History paints a different picture than this article.

"probable neo-nazi German anti-gun advocate"

That's as funny as Cactus Plains' "Communist Nazis".

Cheryl. Have you really looked at some of the insanity you've linked?

This article wasn't written "70 plus years ago" - so I'm probably not reading from the same page as some folks.

I disagree with some of the author's conclusions/inferences - and that's most likely because I'm uncomfortable with how those conclusions conflict with some of my own conclusions/convictions.

But the article surely points out how effectively the Hitler meme can be/and is being used.

History has a way of repeating itself. I notice in the article linked that it seems Adolf Hitler did not study the Boxer Rebellion. No pun intended here , none at all. As I have not read much of My Struggle I do not know if Adolf Hitler was writing prophaganda in his references to boxing as a sport or not.

The recent trend of lawmakers towards gun control seems to be just the opposite of their positions on other politically volatile subjects. The president especially.

Take abortion for example. The people who want abortions do not want people who consider abortion murder deciding whether or not they can obtain an abortion for them.

Owning a firearm cannot in any way be absolute death as is abortion.

I just did a quick check and a edit here. Abortions in the US have leveled off at a bit over 1.2 MILLION a year. I had no idea.

I am sure there will be many more comparisons here.
