Donations for S. Sewell House Fires
Posted by Scottish (+50) 10 years ago
Hello wonderful family, friends, and neighbors I would like to rally around this horrible event and help out our neighbors who unfortunately lost their homes! I am donating a bunch of kitchen items from pots and pans to paper towel holders! I am asking for all of you in our amazing community to donate any unused items you have. I can't imagine losing everything and I'd love nothing more than to help out as much as I can. They have lost everything, two families....two homes.... anything will help I'm sure! If anyone knows where we can bring donations or has a list of items the families need PLEASE take the time to post on here! Thank you all in advance!

The other forum said the hospital was collecting things. You might call them.

Would be good to know the number of people, male/female and ages to donate for. Any small children, teenage children? Elderly?

I know the one family has two teenage children. A very tall son probably about 13ish I can find out his size and also a teenage daughter. I will make some phone calls and get exact sizes. If a drop off place is needed I would be willing to use our garage, we live three houses down from where these families lived.

I would be available to call if you have any questions. I personally know one of the families, and would be happy to take donations as well.

Thank you all so much for your replies!!! I spoke to a rep from HRH and they're accepting donations from Mon-Fri 8-5... I'd be more than happy to pick up and drop off items if anyone has items but can't make it during the dates and times....I'd love to have donations for Manicures, Pedicures, ect. after such a horrific event I think it would be wonderful for the families to have some relaxing, stress free time.. If anyone would like to donate services, please post or text me and I can pick up the gift certificates for services... Let's do our best to help out our neighbors... I can't imagine being in their shoes, so even the smallest things we rarely think about would mean the world to them. I'm going to donate some really fun nail polish colors to the teenage daughter...maybe polishing her toenails will take her mind off of things and make her feel good about herself.... All the little things truly count!! Thanks Again, God Bless

Ok got some sizes! Both kids wear large in adult shirts, shorts, sweats, ect. Her son wears a 31/38 in jeans and her daughter wears a 30/37 which she thought was a 10/12 womens. He wears a size 13 shoe and she wears a 10.5/11 in womens or 8.5/9 mens. They are both teenagers so remember that while donating Email me if ang questions or if you need me to pick up and get to the family.

To the gal who called me last week about the twin bed. I am so sorry I lost your phone # by the time I heard anything. I did find out that they have all the beds they need, but thanks so much for your willingness to donate it. All the help has been greatly appreciated.

St. Vincents will also help with anything they need. The family can come in and choose clothing and household items there. It's wonderful to see so much support!
