Interesting quiz...the percentages were also interesting of Americans that answered wrong on some of these questions...I guess I did better than average which is good, but wish more Americans would stay accurately informed and not just Fox News crap...

I think the problem is the "news organizations" that really aren't and spread misinformation and the morans that believe it...we should pass a law that says the 5th estate has to be true info and has to be so many resources to back it up LOL...

I too got 100% and didn't think it was hard. But I was astounded by how little most people know about this legislation. The misunderstanding about ACA has been fed to the public by politicians who want to defeat the President. Opposing ACA is just a means to that end.

I firmly believe that if a majority of citizens understood the ACA they would want to vote for candidates who support it. The democratic party has a lot of work to do on this issue.

I really don't know what to trust anymore as sources. I think there are many thinking people like myself that have the same concern.

I just received the book, "Health Care Reform"...What it is, Why it's Necessary and How it Works. Jonathan Gruber is the author. He is a Professor of Economics at the Mass. Institute of Technology, a member of the Institute of Medicine and he worked with both Democrats and Republicans on ways to fix our nation's health care problems. He was part of the team that came up with the reform that changed the way Mass. handles medical coverage for the uninsured..and, worked with both Pres. Obama and the Congress to translate that reform to the National Stage.

It is in comic book format and a super easy read for anyone. $7.95...I believe, amazon.com. If you are really interested..you may want to get one. Trust me, it is a fun, novel read:-)

I highly recommend getting a subscription to The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, or both. I subscribe to The New Yorker.

10/10. I still prefer single payer over the individual mandate. The individual Mandate is political suicide.

My perception of this law is we finally got some minimum standards passed, and we call that progress? Until for profit health insurance is gone, cost are going to continue to increase. Even with the provisions in this law, for profit health insurance will find a way to raise prices, and increase revenues.

I've just about given up any hope, and will likely just lower my standards and vote for the party that I know I can expect crappy legislation from.

In a very short time I suspect we will view Obama Care the same way we now view No Child Left Behind.

Please, sincerely, take a look at the reviews on amazon.com regarding the "Health Care Reform" book that I mention earlier. There is also a sample of the format the author uses...and, verbiage about his qualifications for writing the book. It is only 147 pages...a very quick read and, the information definitely clarifies ACA.

Sure, you may get health insurance, BUT YOU WILL NOT GET ANY COVERAGE! It isn't affordable and too many TAXES within the bill and that is the only reason it got passed. obama only wants the money and doesn't give a damn about health care! Remember this.

a moran is a type of slang that is used on this site to really mean the worst type of moron as someone once posted a tea party member holding up a sign that said MORAN...

OK I got 9 out of 10. I still hate the law as it stands and will work to help repeal or preferably greatly change it. I guess that makes me an informed Fox News watcher! WOO HOO! I'm sure I still qualify as a moran to most posters but not because I'm misinformed.
BTW I thought the US was going to institute a govt run system for those who couldn't obtain ins. elsewhere. How are they going to make the ins. co. take everybody, even those with no money? Maybe the US will just make the ins. co. accept the under priviledged and send the US govt the bill or better yet send the insured the check and a stipend as a bonus for actually paying the ins. co.

You are speaking about the public option which the republicans blocked as it moved thru congress...thus the bill has no public option which makes it less than it should be...the only thing it does is insure more profit for insurance companies which the republicans seem to be indebted to....the health care bill will never work unless we have "medicare for all"....all we need to do is take the medicare bill and remove the "over 65" part of it...all Americans then pay a few bucks into the system and that would do it and be mighty cheap for all...right now my hubby and I are paying 800 per month for medicare plus supplement...we would gladly pay 300 into it for the same if not better system...I think the only folks fighting this would be the folks that don't have insurance and just want to live off the public...seems like it at least...

Michael Moore was on TV and stated that he liked that it passed as it is a step toward the "Public Option". We will see. After reading about the ACA, it does appear that it will take a lot of intelligence to implement it but, it sure could happen. It is really good if you can read about it and inform yourself rather than go by what we have been hearing. I loved the format of the book as it lays it out before your very eyes:-) And, if you already have what you are contented with, you are fine.

There are a variety of people who are in opposition of this legislation for a variety of reasons. Most of them are incredibly uninformed.

However, there are many people who are very informed, and very disappointed.

To transform an intricate, personal, and professional relationship into either a small tax, or an financial relationship with a third party who is involved only to make profit on that relationship, as a very hard thing to accept.

I am nearing 40. I am a health care provider. I used to provide health insurance through my small business to my employees and myself. Pre Obama care I lost the opportunity to do so, but would appreciate the opportunity to do so again. However, an individual is too small of a pool for a group plan, which most small business plans call for. All my other employees now get insurance through there spouse. Insurance exchanges are a great idea, and I will likely find resolution to my problem because I am a small business owner.

I have been involved in health care through education or private practice since 1998. I see no value in health insurance.

With very little exception, you ask any physician of any variety of practice, if he would prefer a single transaction between himself and the patient; or follow a paper trail, expenses related to insurance requirements, unnecessary and faulty EMR's; what he would prefer.

We'll, an honest, self employed one would tell you if your going to do it, do it with a non-profit single payer system.

What we passed was a minimum standards law with a requirement to give your money either to the government, or to a for profit health insurance company.

Why are you cheering, after 60 years of health insurance, for these crappy standards? Why is this an improvement? I'm not convinced. Remove insurance.

And you want to tax me if I won't buy this crap?

With the current history of our health care system, I'd vote for Bozo the Clown before I'd vote for the individual mandate. I don't trust that this will lead to single payer. It's not single payer, it's a @#$%^&* tax.

It's bad legislation.

I loathe this election.

There is no way in hell we will ever get single payer in the U.S. because there is too much money to be made by insurance companies. And we will never get health care costs under control because there is too much power in the hands of the insurance companies. However, the ACA is better than anything else that had a chance to pass, but it is still Bob Dole's make money for the insurance companies plan.

I'm not crazy about ACA but it beats nothing at all, which was the alternative. I just wish insurance companies actually carried through with 'free' preventive care. My 'free' checkup cost me close to $200 because the 'free' part doesn't include little details like blood tests. I am terrified what a 'free' colonoscopy' will cost me.

Wendell, just google "tea party, moran and image" and you will see it is a real tea party sign but if you are a member of the tea party, you are just too dumb to see it, I guess, and just want to argue...which I won't do...the educational level in this nation or lack thereof is really sickening and is destroying this country...One can thank Fox News for that in part IMO...

Maybe.

We need to elect people to office that will take the baby step created by ACA and turn it into a single payer program. Unfortunately, it appears we are going to have to watch the current system die a slow and agonizing death until we can get to a single payer system.

Amorette, just cause it'll be very hard to overtake the corporate greed system in place doesn't mean we should declare failure and enact the ACA which will break our pocketbook as well as the country's. Stand up and fight for true reform. Don't point blame at those who have some different ideas. In other words act like Congress should act.
I still believe we can turn this country around if we get rid of the machine that says "this is how we do it around here". Elect people who aren't afraid to go against their own party or better yet, screw the party.

He sure took credit for killing bin laden, didn't he! Nothing any other president wouldn't have done! It was nice he could come off of the golf course for the photo-op in the White House & thank the seals for their work.

GM........too big to fail! Like his green companies, all failed with OUR money, given to HIS friends, like GM, given to the union and the shareholders lost their shirts! Money laundering for the dems! Sure, if that's what you consider Good.

If GM had failed, another auto company would have picked up the slack, gotten plenty of business so they could have hired displaced auto workers.

obama is out touting his "bet on america" tour. Betting with our money and doubling down on failure.

Because the "R" alternative is far worse, with his "back to the future" policies. You want to decry how terrible Obama is, yet Romney would have given us this very same health care plan.

And if you look on the insides of the Department of Ag, Department of Interior, etc. the Obama administration has done a lot of streamlining, reducing redundancy, etc. that is resulting in reduced costs of operations. He is pushing the use of technology more than any of his predecessors could ever dream about. Electing another candidate from the most selfish generation in our history (baby-boomers) is a huge step backwards.

Until you get rid of your "us against them" mindset and actually read the evidence showing up about our government and the path it is heading toward, you won't understand the responses here...the supreme court is critical in the next election, and we cannot afford to pack it with nothing but conservatives...if you don't get that and understand that balance is critical with all of government, you won't get anything we say...end of rant...

@Howdy -- I think we've already discussed that the photo of the guy with the "moran" sign pre-dates the Tea Party movement. (We may agree that the guy with the moran sign personifies the Tea Party movement, though.)

http://knowyourmeme.com/m...ain-morans

As for Wendell, I'm guessing he's never bought medical insurance in his life and that he thinks Fox News is the only truly "fair and balanced" news source in the world.

I've been buying medical insurance for myself and my family on the individual market for almost 7 years now. After seeing 20% annual increases in my premiums year after year, last year was the first year the increase was only 10%. My insurance company included a letter in the notice about the increase in premium stating that the ACA was responsible for a tiny portion of the increase (if I recall correctly it was less than 3% of the increase).

Know a guy now that has to work mandatory overtime 6 days on and 3 days off and if he doesn't like it, he is fired...wouldn't happen if he had a union...plus these are 12 hour days...

Ask the workers in Colstrip about their work schedule and they are in the Union. Turnaround is 6 days a week for a couple months and it might be during hunting season, a family reunion, etc.
6 on and 3 off is a pretty good shift. 9 days off a month versus 8 days off for weekends. And you can be fishing when others are working and have the lake to yourself. I'd do it.
