Ladies... Let's be safe during BHS

Word in the oil patch is that the BHS is this weekend and there are bunches of guys coming to Miles City for the event. While not everyone in the oil patch is a bad actor, the reputation of those that have that occupation of roughneck exists for a reason.

Since we all want to see everyone have a great and safe time here are a few reminders:

- stay in groups with your friends and people you know

- Keep the group close to you so that nothing can happen without someone knowing about it

- don't try and walk home by yourself

- If you get a drink, hold onto it. Don't set it down, and don't give it to someone else to hold. Likewise, don't accept a drink from a stranger without knowing its source firsthand with your own two eyes. There are some people that would take advantage of you by slipping any number of drugs in your drink.

- Keep your phone with you and switched on. Send texts to let someone know where you are.

Have a fun and safe BHS.

Be home in bed by nine thirty. That's my method.

Good post Richard. But I'd like to add that the guys need to be careful too. I have seen more than a few "drugstore cowboys" at BHS that would be a perfect target for some guys looking to harass someone.

One question, Amorette: a.m. or p.m.?

Ooops - sorry Richard. I though this was a Humor thread!

I wouldn't be too worried about the guys from the oil patch.

On the other hand, rumor has it that the entire University of Montana Grizzlies football team is coming to MC for the BHS. Ladies, keep an eye on your drink at all times. Do NOT let your drink go unattended.

Richard, while your advice is good and should be followed anytime. I really don't think that the BHS is going to overrun with oilfield workers.

Most work either 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off or 1 week on and 1 week off, then go home (wherever that may be) on days off. I can't really see someone working a 12 hour shift then driving to Miles City, get drunk and drive back to North Dakota to get back just in time to go back on shift.

A Roughneck getting a DUI or arrested for a serious offense these days usually means they lose their job. I'm sure there will be a few that show up but their behavior won't be any worse than some of the folks I've seen there in the past.

Only five of the oil workers I know from Kalispell are reporting in on Facebook about how much fun MC was yesterday. I don't think any of them are a threat to your safety.

The Grizzlies, OTOH, are a terrible menace.....

Posting a gentle reminder that keeps the women and children safe is NEVER for naught. Looks like it worked. Glad everyone was so well behaved and had an enjoyable time.

Article from the Star on Thur. or Fri. says the crime stats were WAY lower than previous.
