I see our boys are starting the New Year off on a high note:

http://www.foxnews.com/sp...back-rape/

I am getting pretty sick and tired of listening to stories of Grizzly football players slipping mickies and date raping their coed guests on the radio every morning.

It's called "lack of institutional control". Someday it could kill their entire athletic program. It takes a coach with balls and integrity to stop it. We had our problems here in Bozeman too, until we hired Rob Ash. Any hint of trouble, and the guy or guys involved are gone. It's the only way to run a program. You just won't survive in small towns like Missoula or Bozeman if you keep bringing thugs into the community. Due diligence is the name of the game, and if there are any questions about a kids character, let him go somewhere else. Better yet, ask him to please go somewhere else and poison their team. Your team, your college, and your community will be better off without him. No matter how many touchdown passes he can throw. Or catch. Or run for.

We shall see. Woman scorned or GRIZ QB rapist? No one knows. Lot's of speculation. I am not going to speculate on whether he did or didn't. 'Cause God only knows exactly what happened. I will speculate on his fate however...he will be found not guilty. Why you ask? Because atheletes get away with it every day...think Kobe, hell think Parish Cox, the Bronco DB...he even knocked a girl up...she had an abortion...the fetus tested 99% positive it's his...he said he never banged her....and the jury still let him off! It appears that it is a hard sell. Now, if JJ's accuser has a "Girl w/Dragon Tatoo" evidence, he'll be gone and in jail....if not...I think he walks.

One last note...remember Jimmy Wilson? He killed a dude and still got to come back play his senior year and start for the Miami Dolphins! Anything can happen...and usually does...so before all you Cat fans start getting your panties wet, you better wait (like the rest ofd us) and see what happens.

God help the Griz if The Mighty Joe's boy gets the start...as I said on a previous thread, he played at a junior college a couple years ago and wasn't that good there, either.

Yeah, I agree that JJ is innocent until proven guilty. 'Cat fans are not ones to cast stones, though..."Kramergate" and all the drug trafficking and such that happened in that era was not so long ago.

On a more positive note, I did notice that former Griz Lex Hilliard is now with the Minnesota Vikings...wonder if I'll have the chance to see him play in-person? We shall see. The Viking's star RB in Adrian Peterson is having trouble staying healthy so obviously the team is looking for help at that position.

The Miami Dolphins had 3 former Griz on their roster before Hilliard went to the Vikes. In total, 9 former Griz are currently with NFL teams compared with only 2 former MSU players, though I did notice that former Bobcat DE Dane Fletcher did have his name called a time or 2 in the recent Super Bowl as he is seeing playing time for the Patriots. I thought that was cool.

Anyway, let's hope the Griz can do a better job of avoiding trouble with the law going forward. BEHAVE BOYS!!

I don't see any Cat fans throwing stones Shu. If any Cat fan thinks the issues at UM are a good thing for MSU, they are morons. 90% of people outside of Montana don't know the difference between UM and MSU. This looks really bad for the state as a whole.

As far as "Kramergate" is concerned, MSU administration and athletics learned from those mistakes and has cleaned up the football program. Coach Ash has done a great job maintaining discipline and I think the players know if they screw up, they will probably be booted from the team.

Besides, when the Cats stomp the griz this year, I don't want griz fans to have any excuses. Oh...our head coach was fired....worst griz team in 20 years....fumbled twice on the 2 yard line....blah blah blah....

They don't understand why Pflugrad and O'Day are gone? Checking the mirror would be a start, though it's hard to blame Pflugrad for the culture, it was there before he was.

This is a golden opportunity to try to court Van Diest. Pflugrad never seemed like the right guy, anyway.

I like the Shawn Peyton idea...he is familar with the FCS having used to coach at Eastern Illinios.

As much as I didn't like Dr. Octopus, I gotta say that I think it is BS that he got fired. I understand all this is happening under his watch, but it is not like he tried to hide anything or cover up anything.

Sounds to me like the golden age of UM football is over and that the University will get back to it's roots as the "Dancing Academy." The new president doesn't look to be the football type. It's okay with me...I didn't go to UM because they had a good football team. No matter what happens...I will always root for the Griz...hell they should hire Hauck back...his running rebs will be firing him soon as well the way his team has been playing.

We will have to see what happens, especially with the recruits....likely they will go else where.

...well, word has already gotten around that Coach Phlu's replacement has been hired...for the next year, at least:

http://billingsgazette.co...4ba41.html

I think this is an idea that makes the most sense right now; put a coach in there who has already been in the current system with the current players for some time and isn't likely to change the O or D philosophies or game plans too much....the question is, will the current players buy-in and stay on after the recent firing (one would hope they would from that "team letter" posted after the firing, but you never know), or will they bail? Also, what will happen with the players who have been getting themselves into trouble? Suspended or kicked-out altogether?

We shall see...

It's a pretty ugly situation. You don't want to convict him in the court of public opinion, but while he is free you punish his accuser. If we were all like muletrain it would be so simple - Ball above all - the victim would just be the lucky girl who got raped by the starting QB and the Griz would be looking forward to the playoffs.

You know what I hate about Montana? Oregon and Oregon State used to have the record for the most number of players in jail at one time. How in the heck does a small school from the Big Sky take that record away? I guess we are going to have to try harder
Top

Buck...you were there? You know for sure? I like how you start saying "like muletrain"...'cause I really give a procreate, right? I must have played tons of football for MC back in the day and I have a vested interest in Griz football? Try reading some of my earlier posts....I never went to UM because of football. Winning at football is icing on the cake, the rest of the University of Montana experience was far more entertaining than Griz football. $5 Wednesdays at the Top Hat, slaying trout in any direction, hippy girls in 2 pieces on the Blackfoot, the "M", Charlie B's late night pool, etc....those are the real reasons why UM is a great place.

Some of the rapes were for sure the real mccoy, some probabaly bullpoop...but unless you were there it would prove that your the biggest douche on the planet to pass any judgement.

I never said he was innocent or guilty. I just know he's a great player and if the Griz lose him, then the season just got harder. Does this mean I think he did or didn't do it? Does this mean I want it all swept under the rug so JJ can play football? The answer is "no" to both. Explain how I passed judgement?

Rape is bad. Football is good. There are false accusations made by people that proves it it possible and can be done. Football players also have a history of bad behavior.

"FBI reports consistently put the number of "unfounded" rape accusations around 8%.[8] However, "unfounded" is not synonymous with "false" allegation.[9] The largest study, published in 2005, was based on 2,643 sexual assault cases and found 3% of false reports.[10][11][12] A much criticized[13][14][15] 1994 study of 109 rape complaints made between 1978 and 1987 found 41% of false allegations.[16]" Wikipedia

Could JJ be the biggest turd on the planet? yes....is it possible the girl got her feelings hurt, and made up a story for revenge? yes.

Tommy, the 2 situations at Penn State and UM are not THAT comparable. At UM, children were not involved and there were no elaborate cover ups that happened over a period of years while anyone molested children.

The writer of that article is wrong to go there by trying to compare the 2 situations. Frankly I am offended that he would.

Well JJ is done. Who knows what he could have accomplished had he been able to keep it in his pants? But he didn't keep it in his pants, and from the newly released information it sounds like he indeed raped that girl. Being drunk is no excuse. I personally have been drunk many, many times and never raped anyone. Character flaw or whatever this guy will no longer be a Griz. I feel bad for the victim, JJ's family, the guys on the team. JJ let down a lot of people. But alas, the game goes on. One person does not make a team or a program. Griz football will continue. And in hindsight, firing the AD and the coach, and suspending/kicking out the players might have saved the Griz from say the same fate as Penn State.

Football starts in a month. The Griz coaching staff have a month of camp to find their new starter. Coach D said it best, "it's our responsibility to get these QB's ready to play." Coaching, coaching and more coaching will be the deciding factor on how well the Griz do this year. Hell, after watching Tim Tebow have the kind of year he had last year, I am convinced that anything is possible. But you are going to have to think outside the box and really come up with gameplans that keep the other teams guessing.
