I've noticed alot of beaver damage along the dike. Looks like we won't have many trees left along the tongue river if this keeps up. Is there any thing the city can do about this?
Actually, we should trust nature and leave the beavers to do their job. By thinning the cottonwood forest gallery, more light will get to the ground and increase the herbaceous vegetation on the ground. This new vegetation will help slow the erosional process of the bank, decreasing the sediment load in the river. What water does run off will be cleaner than it is now.
