I saw that. They wanted $75, which is too rich for my blood, but it is cool. Savage was a druggist and a sheriff.

Does anyone know the name of the book shown on the EBay site with the William E. Savage information?

That's Dr. Hoopes' book "This Last West." I was selling copies at the Historic Pres office and still have some.

Thanks, Amorette -- I Googled the book for information -- my family didn't arrive in Montana until 1888. Probably wouldn't do me any good.

Matt,
While I have missed a few of your auctions, can only recall one with a W.E. Savage Druggest bottle. It went for over 125 dollars.

Amorette,
Believe the Sheriff was Charles W. Savage not W.E. Savage.

You are both correct. Charles W Savage was father of William E Savage. Charles W was Miles City's first postmaster and served two years as sheriff. The town of Savage, MT was named for him His son William E was sheriff of Custer County as well as a druggist. He was former vigilance member.

I’m a great granddaughter of William E. Savage. I’m really interested in the book by Dr. Hoopes, “This Last West.” I hope someone will see this as it’s an old thread. I’ve googled the book and can’t find a copy. Anyone have the book?

Wow, that list was long. Only down to 4 now.

I do have an extra copy of the book, brand new, never opened, still in shrink wrap - but don't want to sell it.

Book prices get crazy sometimes.

Thank you very much for the information, I have one of Dr. Savage bottles in my cabinet, found it digging in old dumps.
