Oh man, how many "Dumb Dumb Dumb" songs can there be? This is the hazard of satellite radio. I listen to old stuff over and over and miss out on great, new music like, "Dumb Dumb Dumb".

You know David that's pretty bad that I'm complaining about a song that I don't even know who sings it or the real name of it, all I know is that is basically all they say through the whole song.

Honestly the radio stations around this town suck. I have a big problem listening to Chris Rivera especially. Can anyone honestly sound more monotonous. Get a personality and learn how to read already. The simplest words are impossible for him to pronunce.

I would think the station owners would have some idea of what a good radio station is like.

And the playlists. Wow now that is a good one. There is no playlist its ten songs that they advertise as being new and updated. They might be newer but when you hear them ten times a day they get old real quick.

Just my opinion and im sure im not the only one.

Cubby: The song is Dumb Love - Sean Kingston. We added it as a request, and it does play a lot.

minime: Don't hate on Chris. He tries his best, and it can be difficult to read a script live at times.

Playlists... We have one at 92.3. I see it daily, and it is always different. Within the last few months we added in some new music, from 2008-2011 attempting to mix it up with modern music.

Plus, if you listen to 92.3 as much as you do... why do you not take my advise (which I give daily on the air) and let us know what you want. I ask for suggestions, and take them too. People wanted us to add newer music into the lineup, so we did. Either call us with suggestions or drop them by the facebook page.

And to solve your problem cubby, I'll work on toning down the "Power" songs. Such as Dumb Love.

So why not play some stuff on the harder side? Chevelle, Staind, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Flyleaf, the list goes on. There are alot of good artists, IMO, on the harder side with songs suitable for the radio. If I wanted to listen to the adult contemporary or what ever you want to call it on KATL, I would turn to that station. I guess I was happy with the classic rock you guys were playing.

We still play the same format, we just mixed in newer music to gain listeners who enjoy it. However, getting anything in the system that is on the harder side of music is out of my control. We can't stray too far off our format... But trust me. I'm working on it

Back in I believe 1977, I spent the summer and fall farming north of Minot North Dakota. I could pick up 7 radio stations in the combine. One day, and I swear this is true, all 7 stations were playing Debbie Boones song "You light up my life" at the same time. If there had been a cliff anywhere nearby, I would have happily driven that combine right off it. It seemed that it was 1 of maybe 10 songs on the playlist, at all the stations I could listen too. I quickly grew to loathe that song.

Haha everything that's going on with politics and our national debt and songs on the radio is what we are concerned with. If you don't like it shut the damn radio off.

The thing I don't like about 92.3's song selection is that there are too many what I call "novelty" songs. I remember one morning I was listening and it was something like "Rock Me Amadeus" followed by "Don't Worry be Happy" followed by "Mambo #5". Those songs were popular but nobody ever really thought they were good songs and they really don't hold up. That morning I described it as "The most annoying music of the 70s, 80s, and 90s." There is music I like from every era but those songs are not it.

I heard a DJ explain the repetition thing to a caller once in a way that made a lot of sense to me. The guy called in and asked why they had played the same song 8 times in one day and the DJ told him that flat out that people who listen to the radio all day are not who they program for. He said that the average radio listener listens for 20 minutes per day, so if they want songs to be heard they have to play them a lot.

Don't listen to me though, I just listen to podcasts all day now.

I really would like to know how many people changed the station today for the Whitney Houston hour. I understand she was an amazing singer but COME ON. This is just sad.
Top

I agree with that! When Whitney came out with the movie Bodyguard and then the soundtrack, it was over played so much! In Glendive the station had three CDs a week. The first one was last weeks top 40, then this weeks top 40, and finally they had top 40 from 6 months earlier. The problem was in random play you heard "I will always love you" up to 5 times an hour. I'm serious, one day we counted and heard that song 3 times in 20 minutes. To this day I hate that song!!!!

SD:

We don't have the song.

minime:

That was a one-time thing, who knows if we will ever do something similar again.

Chris may be trying his best, but he is just not good enough! He is a horrible radio personality (would be better if he actually had one!). Turning the radio on and hearing his droning, monotonous monologue makes me tune to a different station or turn it off. And a good radio host uses a script as structure, not to read from word for word.

ok for the record i do know what a period is and no for your information im not on one...and as for chris being a good dj or him being a bad one is your right to opinion but its wrong for you people to sit there and put someone down and pin point their flaws sit back and look at your own and yourself before you down others anyone for that matter .none of you would like people talking crap on you so why cant you show respect and not talk bad of others ,this is the kind of stuff children do not adults.................

Sorry Misti, when your occupation requires you to be in some sort of public service, you sort of set yourself up for criticism (good or bad)on how you perform.

Oh so I can be more like YOU. If your attitude is what being an adult is all about then I will happily keep my somewhat juvenile sense of humor. And a six-pack of beer says that you don't know about Birdwell Island.

And more importantly, where never is spoken an ugly word and all problems in life are solved in 22 minutes. We don't live on Birdwell Island. Deal with it.
