I am not sure if its an actual park or not, but if it is something needs done. My children and I were playing on the grass happened upon a large amount of dog poo. If you do bring your dog over there to use the grass for poo breaks you should at least clean up after your animal.
It's quite gross when your playing football and land on a pile of the smelly stuff. Pretty much ends the fun. There is a unused field across the street ridden with weeds and gravel. Maybe some signs that read no dogs allowed, or enough people complaining will fix this. Not sure if I am the only one who encountered the mess.

It's pretty much a wide spread problem I live by Highland Park School, and while several dog walkers DO pick up after their dogs ~ just as many don't.

Same thing on the Holy Rosary Health Walk, and they've placed dog waste stations with baggies along the way!

When we were kids, getting tackled into a pile of poo was the best thing... NO ONE wanted to even come close to a poo covered running back...

LOL! That is true, no one wanted to tackle him after that. Also no one wanted to give him a ride home, or wash his coat I'm sure. It could be a stray dog, or someone just to lazy to walk the extra 50 yards across the street to the vacant field or train tracks. Not sure if there is a city ordinance against it. If there is people need to step up and say/do something.
There are few activities for children in our town. Dogs have, get, and transmit disease through there feces. Just do your part and pick up your animals poo or keep them in your own yard. IF you see someone walking there dog there or in another park someone has to say something or it will continue....

I live one block from the playground on North Merriam. We have a ton of strays around here, so it isn't surprising.

Ummm....so do children through their feces.

I can't believe you posted this! Any feces can transmit disease of coarse. But I don't see stray children running around crapping on playgrounds. You don't see parents walking there kids over to the park to poop. There aren't green cans with baggies around Spotted Eagle, and the Hospital with pictures of children copping a squat while their parents hold the leash. Don't get me wrong I am sure there are kids that do this at every park. Maybe you don't have children, or it's your dog that is making this mess. Either way it gross, children or dogs. All I'm saying is be respectful and clean up after yourself, children and dogs. If you disagree then YOU are the problem.

Lots of "poo" talk. Sounds like a job for Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs).

Have to agree with the picking up of the poop :P If you are a pet owner you are responsible for what goes in and what comes out of your pet!

In the alley near our house was a pile of junk that attracted high school kids at lunch time where they would hide and smoke cigarettes. While not on my property I found this behavior mildly irritating. One day while cleaning up after my dog in my back yard, I had a brainstorm. One shovelful of the freshest stuff I could find was spread liberally in the area where the smokers hung out. My only regret was that I was not home to watch the fun ensue. My wife said that two kids jumped into the area and before anyone else could join them they jumped out and started looking for someplace to clean their shoes. They never came back. Sure glad I didn't have to sit by any of them in class.

The thing that some people are forgetting here is that all property belongs to someone. So instead of saying take your dog across the street to the vacant lot or take them to the railroad tracks to poop. You should be saying carry gloves and a bag with you to pick it up when it does poop. And for the stray dogs you should be saying keep your dog tied up or fenced in at home.

Might be???

If that story doesn't prove it, nothing will.

A sign "no dogs allowed" will not keep some out... (not even talking about strays)
My children and I frequented Wibaux park this summer and seen several dogs on leashes or with owners throughout the park... I watched one lady walk (close) by the "no dogs" sign and into the park... I wonder if maybe some people think rules don't pertain to them?
