Tks for the CNN link. Some of the comments are disgusting, but there is an angle I hadn't considered and it is that of a disgruntled student (s) getting bad grades and getting even. I do know teachers that are afraid of students getting even and I assume this is a lead being checked out. Recently in Billings, several hundred vehicles were damaged, mostly by teens; this was not due to getting even with a teacher, but shows what damage immature teens can do.

Hey just to let people know I have heard of people donating food/drinks for the search people in Sidney. If you know Jen Hirsh I believe she is one person who is taking the donations up there to the Sheriffs office. What a wonderful idea, snaps to all who have helped!

There is a live press conference in Sidney going on now but everyone at the Star has lost the feed. Should have updates on the AP as soon as it is over.

I just read an update on KTVQ TV and they report that a 47 year old man has been arrested in Williston and a 22 year old guy arrested in Rapid City, South Dakota. The FBI received a tip that led to them. Imagine there will be more on the five thirty news. Very sad.

According to the Bismarck Tribune, the two men have been arraigned on charges of aggravated kidnapping in connection with the death of Sherry Arnold. (11:20 am article, Saturday Jan 14). So does not appear to be a hit and run. The title of the article is "Two men charged with aggravated kidnapping in death of Sherry Arnold" Someone else will have to provide the link.

Another example of the dregs of our society stealing the very best away from us. I hope there is enough evidence to compel these thugs to plead guilty so the family is spared a tortuous trial. And then lock the cretins up and throw away the key.

My sympathies to her family. I hope the outpouring of love from the Sidney community and beyond helps get you through the days ahead. The world has obviously lost a very special person.

The kidnapping charge is because the FBI can't get involved in a plain murder case. You want to get the highest charge against a suspect as possible. I think details are being kept very quiet so that the authorities can play these two guys against each other. Remember, with oil and gas and coal comes filth.

"Remember, with oil and gas and coal comes filth."

Not certain, Amorette, what this comment has to do with these criminals.. . The math community in Montana (I am hearing from other friends there) is reeling from this news and your comment makes no sense -- unless you know something we don't. I live now in the Houston TX area and we have a lot of oil, gas, and coal companies and I do not think that they have brought "filth" to our town.

I am sure they didn't make up the kidnapping thing, most likely the FBI is involved because the crime crossed state lines, MT to ND or SD.

Two news items on the internet, I am putting out that are probably true, due to the reliability of the sources. When the FBI indicated Sherry was dead, most people assumed they had found the body, but one does not equal the other; simply stating that a person was dead, does not mean the body has been found, but the Dickinson Press is indicating the body has been found. (http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/event/article/id/54621/

Another article indicates one of the suspects is from Parachute, Colorado. (http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/30209788/detail.html The title of the article is "Colo. Man Detained in Montana Teacher's Death" I hope the links are correct.

I read that article from Denver a few days ago. I figured from the beginning that the people responsible for this were not from the Sidney area.

There is a big difference between the glittering headquarters of the Houston companies and the urban professionals who staff them, as opposed to the oilfield trash who work long hard hours in the oilpatch.

I see on the Colorado sex offenders list, there is a 47 yr old (same age as a suspect), living in Parachute, Colorado, with multiple sex convictions. Have no evidence he moved to Williston.

So why in the hell would you make such felonious statements based on pure speculation, rumor, etc. Let's all back off and let the professionals do their job.

Bingo Richard. Why on earth do people think they can spend five minutes on a website, consider it "investigative research", and then publish a wild-assed speculative accusation on a public forum?

Regarding Amorette's rather broad statement regarding oil, gas, pipeline, mining, etc..... I've lived in several towns that have gone through boom-n-bust cycles. My observation that the people who actually get hired and work on these projects are usually salt-of-the-earth, backbone-of-our-country folks, including the typically large share of rowdy but generally law abiding and responsible young men.

But - the PROSPECT of employment also draws a lot of undesirable individuals with hopes of getting hired on. The thing is, the oil/gas/etc companies are very good about weeding troublemakers out because they become huge liabilities should they actually get on the jobsite.

So, as a rule, miscreants do NOT get hired and eventually they move along to chase the next rainbow. Unfortunately, some do a lot of damage in the short time that they are present, and that taints the picture for everyone - good and bad alike.

In other words, I'd like to salute all those hard working guys with sweat stained blue collars... they hate the bad guys as much or even more than we do.

Interesting interview with the brother of Michael Spell, on the KREX TV Grand Junction site (Parachute, Colorado news topix). Brother says Lester Waters threatened to harm Mike's wife and child if Mike did not do as he (Lester) said. go to http://www.topix.com/city/parachute-co or type "Parachute, CO news topix" in your search engine.

A list of the crimes committed by Lester Vann Waters can be seen by typing the following into your search engine, Please include quotation marks. "Profile of Lester Vann Waters" There is also a link to the latest Bismarck Tribune article with some additional information, including they are "accused of committing the crime at approximately 6:40"; we will have to wait and see if that is significant.

As this tragedy unfolds, one cannot help but think of the other unsolved murders in the area. Some of the stories on Sherry also mention another person missing, which I assume is in that area. In southeastern Montana there were two females abducted around 1995-6. One of these was a woman picked up around Hardin and her body dumped, (I think) just over the Montana-Wyoming border. The most prominent was the case of Denise Russell who was abducted at Busby and her body found in a barn some 20 miles from Broadus, probably on Custer National Forest. In this case, it is not a case of they do not know who might have done this, if you talk to the people in the area, there are 3 or 4 suspects, they just do not know which one might have done this. I have my theory, others have a different theory. Her body was taken down a road mostly used by a rancher doing ranch work and whoever dumped her body had to have been familiar with the road (no, the rancher is not a suspect). But whoever killed her said to himself "I'll take her to that barn on that rancher's land that I have been to before." I have heard two stories on the disposition of the body. One has it that she was partially buried and another story has it that she was taped with duct tape and in a corner. But let's hope to solve the other cases, also.

A few more notes: A male body has been found in the borrow pit near Bainville, MT, somewhat in the area where they are looking for Sherry (this is on the internet and was just reported on KULR).

There are reports that a substance was found on Sherry's shoe, which the authorities will not comment on.

Michael Spell in in a court action in Colorado was requested by his defense attorney to undergo two psychological evaluations, the results which are sealed.

I found the following article interesting: type the following into your search engine:"Profiling Sherry Arnold suspects and anonymous abduction tip"

The judge has granted extradition of the suspects to Montana. I was expecting some indication of the evidence, but none was necessary. I wonder if the suspects might have been in posession or trying to sell Sherry's I phone, cell phone, or heaven forbid, her wedding ring.

I see there is a Cynthia Thornton representing one of the suspects. I believe she has a Miles City connection as I think she used to either be in the County Attorney's office or had a private law practice in Miles City. She also used to be in the Powder River County Attorney's office. Go to the Sidney Herald link earlier in this post.
