If I had a spare dime, I'd be building apartment houses like a mad man! There was one house and one mobile home for rent in the paper tonight and they were both pricey. Not a single apartment and folks begging for them on milescity.com.

How come the rich folks can't ever seem to see future demand and the people who can see what needs to be done are broke?

So when are you going to build this new apartment house. Seems if you could start a new trend. Cheap apartments for everyone.

Spare dime, Ike. I would need a spare dime. I don't have one.

The strip club idea of recent sounds more lucrative to me.
But seriously, you're right, and could propose an idea to an investor. It wouldn't take long to determine the feasibility of such an idea.
Miles City needs growth, a place to live would help attract new faces.

Has anyone been in the upper floors of the old Milligan? Seems like there are 2 floors there that could be a great location for some nice apartments if done up right.

Amorette...get the loan from the bank and build this apartment house. Then you can be one of the rich and not complain about them.

Nothing upstairs at the Milligan. The old computer store, bikeshop and old pleasantries buildings are empty too. Get someone to buy them from Miles and there you go. The latter would need everything redone. No walls.

The computer store building has been filled recently, according to the new sign at least.

It's plain to see Tax Payer does not understand banking.

I must not have explained the situation clearly. Yes there is a new occupant in the computer store buiding on ground level. What I am saying is upstairs is empty from the end of the block to the computer store was in to the ending wall of what used to be pleasantries. It could easily be built back into apartments. Over 1/2 block long. Who ever bought the stores would have rental of the storefronts, and could remodel the upstairs. Could even make them low income like Big Sky Pharmacy did.

Sorry but I do, it is how my business was built. You put up your house up as collateral, the one you inherited would do, if you don't have enough you get others to go in with you on this venture. That is why you don't have spare change, you need to think outside of the box you live in.

There are several upper floor apartments on Main Street. Technically, they are against zoning code since we have no mixed residential/commercial zone but we are working on that.

The problem with many of them is they would need complete updating. I know some of the "apartments" had shared kitchen and/or bathroom facilities. Again, a large investment would be needed and that large investment is the stumbling block.

One Main Street apartment is currently being renovated but that will hardly fill the gap.
