Homicide last night?
Posted by Mrs.B (+259) 11 years ago
Has anyone heard what happened last night? I just seen on facebook there may have been a double homicide? I hope not, but was wondering if it's true.

As far as I have heard, there was no one killed. There apparently was an incident, but no deaths.

Posted by Mrs.B (+259) 11 years ago
Well that's good that there where no deaths.

I love when people yell, "FIRE!" in a movie theater. Nice.

As do I, but when things happen, it is also nice to actually hear about it. I'm not a gossip- just would like to know what's going on in this community...

this thread is a perfect example of that game where you whisper into the persons ear the rumor that someone whispered to you...and when you get to the end of the circle, the story is completely different LOL...

Melita, that's exactly why i posted it. Not to gossip, i just was worried because a town this small 9 times out of 10 you know the person. I heard a couple stories and thought someone on here might know what actually happened. Thanks

if this is not a gossip thread, can you not wait for the police report section of the newpaper on Monday?

Mrs. B - No one is questioning your curiosity and concern. If someone was shot/shot at/shooting at someone/murdered, I would definitely want to know about it as soon as possible.

Where you might have been more tactful was in your labeling of the thread. "Homicide" is a strong word and is bound to evoke an unnecessarily emotional response.

Rewording the title to something like, "Does anyone heard of a possible shooting?" still solicits the information you're seeking, but doesn't elicit such a visceral, sky-is-falling, OMGWTFinterrobang, less-than-ideally-informed reaction.

So did something happen or not?

The media in this town is very reluctant to report on anything criminal or negative (other than politics) wise that will not positively show up in the Billings Gazzette or is the generic police report "a Miles City man was arrested on suspicion of DUI." I'm not sure if this is a media problem, a police report info release problem or a combo. Therefore asking what is going on is warranted imo. As Brian stated rewording the question would be a more tactful approach.

yes, something did happen last night.....the soul of Miles City was forever killed by redneck voters......of course, being the cow capitol, it took 5 days for the tough old bird to die after being stabbed to death by idiots.

GO GLENDIVE!!!!!!

I love this place. If the majority of the people rule and dont follow your thinking, you call them all idiots. Comeon now.

The only reason i said homicide is because that's what i read on facebook. I did'nt know what kind of weapon if any where involved. I will keep that in mind though. The way i word things that is. I really did'nt mean to offend anyone.

There's definitely a conflict-of-interest there (in regard to crime reporting at the Star), boxdmc.

As you may have noticed, there was no report of a homicide in Miles City. Not in the local paper, not in the Billings paper, not on the local radio stations, not on the Billings televisions stations. Why not?

There was no homicide.

There was an incident where a firearm was discharged. (where upon the wild rumors) I am not sure the Star sends anyone down to the police station to check their log daily or even regularly.

Gunnar,

That is a waste of adjectives since there is really negligible difference between a stupid turd and a smart one. Or in the immortal lyrics of Part Sifunkel:

I am a turd, I am a turd island.
And a turd has no brain,
A turd island never dies...

Kudos to Mrs. B. She may have unintentionally used a word that some found alarming, but she INtentionally kept her cool in the face of the criticism that followed.

Methinks most of us MC.commies could learn a thing or two about civility from her.

Well, Frank, as usual, is correct. I mock Aaron Bruce's grammer, then I go use a ridiculous phrase such as stupid turds.

Kind of like calling someone an idiotic moron, eh?

I am ashamed of myself, and wish to apologize.

No there was no homicide.Someone discharged a handgun in the 700 block of north 4th Friday night. The cops where called and the person that discharged the handgun got in his suv and had the cops chase him out onto the interstate where he rolled his suv.

The rumor mill rolled along as usual, turning a minor incident into a federal case. I remember when a chunk of the basement ceiling fell down at the high school and within the hour, the whole building had blown up and there were dozens of dead students.

Grain of salt, people, grain of salt.

Thank you Steve. There really is no point in all the negativity on this site. It's pointless. I don't know if people feel safe behind the screen of there computers and that's why they do it or they are super bored and have nothing better to do. No sweat off my back. It takes way more to get me goin that comments on a web site.

Gunnar,

It's not the threads fault you got hate mail.

I'll bet it has to do with you insulting people who live here routinely.

Just a thought...
