Stop Free Trade- because it is not free-the middle class, whats left of it, is paying in blood.

I am not an expert on the subject, but I know we need more revenue and not merely tax cuts...Perhaps a federal jobs program like FDR had in the 30's and 40's to work on (among other things)the infrastructure of this nation...that would get Americans back to work and our roads and bridges repaired...
Posted by (+4943) 12 years ago
Also this war on unions has got to stop as they are the last thing "holding the line" for decent wages and benefits in this nation IMO...Americans simply cannot afford to pay for medical insurance while making little more than minimim wage...My husband and I are both on Medicare plus supplement and pay a combined total of almost $700.00 per month for all of it...Many Americans cannot afford that particularly seniors...

I agree with Stone, get the jobs that have gone to other countries back. One of the reasons I feel they have left is because of the unions and the demands they put on the companies. They were useful when they started and now I feel they have out lived what they were started for.

To answer Taxpayer's question, I think the president's jobs bill is a start.

In regard to getting our jobs back, I think of the evening I had to call a Company to have them remove a charge they had made to my Credit Card and spoke to a lady in a foreign country. Then, I had to follow up with a call to the Credit Card Customer Service and, again, I got a person in a foreign country. In visiting with him, he mentioned that he makes $300 American dollars or, 18,000 pesos which was a very good wage in his country.
The Company is with a Major Bank. This must be the jobs where Americans would need more training???? I really don't think there are many Union jobs in the Banks..could be wrong. Just found this interesting.

these are the same banks that got the multi billion bailout money from the Bush Administration...We are so generous with wall street and the banks and the rich, but the middle class and the poor can go to hell as far as the GOP is concerned..

How much worse can Republicans get? How about cheering the death of a young person due to lack of health insurance. Oh, wait, they did that already.
Want to save the economy? Go to single payer government run healthcare so employers don't have to shoulder the burden on the increasingly rare occasions they do. The rest of the industrialized world spends much less on healthcare for much better health. Free up a few billion there easy-peasy.

Agree Amorette totally...but first we would have to get rid of all the big pharma and insurance lobbies in DC...there are a zillion or so per politician...

Canada hates their healthcare system with the long wait for doctors and etc. I feel we need jobs that are permanent and not federal created jobs that are temporary. We need jobs that are created from companies that create revenue and not ones that need tax dollars to create jobs. Thanks all for having a civil conversation on this without running either side down. It has gotten so politics come before really getting down and debating what will put our country back on its feet.
Posted by (+3260) 12 years ago
OOps...I failed to say $300/month. Sorry! I do have relatives in Canada that love their healthcare but, could be the different areas.
Posted by (+4943) 12 years ago
My best friend in Canada loves her health care as well and says she would hate to have to pay our high bills for it in this country...she has a very bad illness that requires a lot of surgery and it hasn't cost her a dime either for health care or premiums...sure wish we had that here...I would gladly pay more taxes for a public health care system as we already are paying so much a month for insurance...if we could remove the insurance companies and their profits as the middle man and just pay for health care services thru a public option, we would be so much better off...

One thing that would create jobs is a comprehensive and long-term national energy policy. Such a policy needs to look at the next 12, 25, and 50 years. We need to deal with CO2 emissions in a way where the market has confidence in said plan and will begin adopting the latest air pollution technology. The result would be building new power plants that run on coal or natural gas and sequester the carbon or use other near-zero emission technology. We really need to upgrade and update our electrical generation capabilities.
The long term needs to focus on developing new technology for the eventual elimination of carbon-based fuels and develops other methods of electrical generation.
If we got serious about just this one segment of our economy we could in just a few years eliminate the need to have a huge military in the middle east to protect the free flow of oil. Such a plan would also put millions of people back to work.

I agree, Richard. But if anyone "Big" is worried in the least about their bottom line...............
And taxpayer...any time I've talked to anyone from Canada, they've practically laughed at our health "system".

Bob, that is unpossible. All true americans know that canadians hate their healthcare. it's practically QED.
Posted by (+1008) 12 years ago
I have friends in Canada who ALWAYS come to the the US for their health care.
Posted by (+29) 12 years ago
Why don't all you folks that love the Canadian system so much just move there?
Posted by (+12816) 12 years ago
Actually, Plowperson, you can't just move to Canada. They have fairly strict immigration laws to keep sick people from moving to Canada and getting healthcare.
I have friends in Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand who are endlessly baffled by the concept that sick people can either die or go bankrupt in the richest nation on earth. They wouldn't move here to save their souls. Yes, they have to wait for some procedures but they don't have to chose between their home or their health.

So far, no one's answered howdy's question so I will.
Much worse.
Much worse.

So far in three debates, we've had: Cheering executions, cheering the death of the uninsured, and booing a soldier. I'm not sure what they're planning for an encore - mocking the bereaved or cheering the theft of candy from a blind trick-or-treater...
Party of Morals and Virtue indeed...

Come on now, the soldier was a homo. Everyone knows homos --- even homo soldiers --- aren't REAL AMERICANS like the teabaggers and chickenhawks in the audience.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like they lose a little bit of their I.Q. every time Michelle Bachman opens her mouth?

You mean like the way she weighs in on Cuba at the end of this video clip?
Yes.... because there is nothing worse than a jihadist smoking a montechristo.

That ban on travel/business to Cuba is completely asinine imo. The Castro regime is going to get theirs, sanctions be damned.

why, are you referring to him because he is black and you are asking a racist question?? I personally know nothing about him so don't have an opinion right now but his color doesn't bother me in the least...
Posted by (+344) 12 years ago
Why do you bring the racist part up? Seems like people like you are making racist comments when ever you feel cornered. I brought him up as you listed in your comic post others that are running and forgot to add him. Well he is the one I am voting for, not bacause of his color, but I really like the guy. You should check him out. Also I am so tired of hearing you are racist if you are against Obama. Well am I racist because I like Herman Cain?

Crap. To many threads all saying the same thing, so i replied in the other one instead. Here's what I meant to say here:
tax_payer: it doesn't make you a rascist, but it makes me thing you're not very bright.
My favorite Herman Cain quote: "I would have died under obmamacare!!" Uhmm... yeah. Because the death panels have a mandate to cap any CEO's that come before them. Idiot. I'd love to see what kind of insurance his cancer-ridden ass would have gotten before "ObamaCare" if he wasn't, you know... rich.
