WATCH THE HOUSE MOVE NOW
Posted by Eric Brandt (+848) 16 years ago
It's about 1:15. I have the encoder hooked up directly as a broadcast stream. I am offloading the video for later processing and can support up to 5 people viewing while it offloads.

If you want to watch, click the link below. This will open in Windows Media Player. If there are already 5 people watching, you will get a little nasty-gram telling you the connection is full. :-(

The audio is terrible - Lot's of wind noise.

Also, I don't know what will happen to the encoder when the camera switches on and off for different scenes. We'll know soon enough!

NOTE:
THIS IS UNEDITED AND ESSENTIALLY "LIVE" EVEN THOUGH IT IS DELAYED - WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK - I DON'T THINK HERE IS ANYTHING NASTY IN IT, BUT YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Oh my, it's the Blair Witch Project version of how to move a house!

Eric. Eric. E-R-I-C! Sit still and quit fidgeting in you seat! Sit still or you're going to the principals office!

I can't figure out the audio on this live encode, so bear with me.

I thought I would put in some background music to cover up the wind, but when I tried to take it out for the interviews, I somehow broke the whole thing.

I'll re-encode it again later :-)

For now, I'm letting it run.

Chad, it's hard to sit still with a house moving down the street!

After it's encoded, I'll edit and chop out the boring parts.

I have a couple good interviews in there too that we'll grab for the final project.

Eric

There is a story, I have parts of it from Duncan Wohlgenant (Owner) and Amorette Allison (Historic Preservation Officer) and a short interveiw with the new City Engineer - Llyod DeVies.

OK, that's it for the encoding. I need to edit that and clean it up a little, which I don't have time to do this afternoon. I'll post when it's ready though.

Thanks,

Eric

Short version--Fort Keogh was threatening to burn the two buildings down. I put the word out and got some national publicity but we ended up selling them, buy one-get one free, to Duncan Wohlgenant, who grew up here. They are going up to the family farm at the eight mile marker of the Kinsey road to be restored. Long version . . I'll put together some time and post at the Miles City Voice because it is LONG.

This could possibly be the most exciting thing ever. Not.

I am re-encoding the video. This is RAW video with no editing. I figured out how I broke the audio before, and I know how to fix it.

The sound is awful, so turn your speakers down. There are a couple interviews in there with a few folks, you can hear them fairly well.

Once encoded (successfully) I will edit and make something a little more entertaining, but for now, I can support a few interested viewers.

This link is no longer active as the encoding is complete. Due to popularity, I will go ahead and post the final file - un edited - tonight before I go home. I will post the new link then. Thanks for watching.

Eric

OK, the raw video is available as a special feature to all registered members of The Miles City Voice.

Registration is free if you have not already done so.

Also a reminder - Those who live out of town and would like to watch the 4th of July Parade LIVE need to register for the drawing by June 30. Thank you.

Ammorette,

Why were they going to burn them? Also, the Range Riders was interested?

Eric,
Are we going to get to see the house go across the bridge and up the hill?

Bob,

Sorry, I was obligated to work with client on Thursday and I could not take the time to film that part of the trip. One of our volunteers will be working with me to edit the footage you see now into a more appropriate short feature. Our goal is about 15 minutes. I will try to get up to Kinsey to get some pictures of the placement though.

This brings up a good point. If there are interesting events going on that folks want to see, I would be more than happy to work with them to get them filmed. As long as we take care of the camera, it is available to use. I just can't always get away from the store, and an extra body is always welcome. If folks will capture the video, I will help get it posted. We have made a lot of improvements to the process and can now get a video going - at least in raw form - in just a few hours. A recent technology change here dropped nearly 4 hours of processing for a 1 hour video! That's very exciting. But, I still need someone to capture the video.

Come by the store or contact me from the website if you are interested. I would be very happy that the camera is getting good use!
