2011 Denver Broncos

How can the fans of a team that went 4-12 ask $100 a piece for tickets for nose bleed seats? The Bronco ticket exchange ticket holders are asking for some lofty prices for tickets to see one of the worse teams in football. I will wait until mid season before buying any tickets this year. I'd imagine ticket prices will come down quite alot once the team is 2-6.

Two words: Tim. Tebow.

It's gonna be great, just like when Flutie played for the Bills - Tebow does ANYTHING and the pundits will go CRAZY! Gonna be fun to watch. Timmy better learn how to throw an out - not holding my breath.

I was hoping the Vikings would get Neck Beard in a trade from the Donkeys, no such luck.

Apparently, management in Miama and Tennessee don't have their heads completely up their asses. Stupid Seahawks, stupid Broncos, and stupid Vikings.

Wait, did I say that about Miami? I take it back. Reggie Bush?

I think when the season ticket holders are the only ones with the tickets the prices can be steep. I would wait until August 2nd when the single game tickets go on sale through the Broncos. You can probably get them cheaper through them or I usually go to Stubhub (I think there is a 10% fee thrown on there too through Stubhub). Prices will fall especially coming from a team who will maybe win 5 games this year.

If the Broncos beat the Raiders twice this season you can send me a six-pack of Guinness Extra Stout or Polygamy Porter. If they split the season.... well better luck next year.

I'm ready to see what Tebow can really do, but more importantly I'm ready to get back to a defense we don't have to hang our heads in shame over. I really hope Elvis comes back to form after missing last season and can't wait for Mr Miller to get his NFL legs under him.

Wouldn't really mind seeing them pick up McGahee for some redzone running or another veteran receiver to make up for the loss of Stokley and now Gaffney.

Being typical fairweather/bandwagon fans though, I have no doubt that they'll all be calling for Fox and Tebow's head after the 1st loss of the year.

Tebow will probably get his "make it or break it" game the week after next as next week will probably feature Orton for at least a half, if not into the 3rd quarter. The last game of the preseason should showcase just who will be #2 and #3 at Qb. I've always been a Tebow supporter, and do believe his time will come, IF he accepts the fact that for now, despite what the media hypes, he has to be patient. Wait for your time young man, and it will come. Just ask Aaron Rodgers.

Tebow's chance may come sooner than you think. Aaron had to play behind a slightly more accomplished QB than either The Mighty Quinn or Orton. Certain experts don't think Tebow is ready, however:

Kinda hard to "get ready" if you never get the chance to play. IMO
According to Mr. Fox on Denver's sports report last night, there is no clear cut #2 or #3. He said Quinn was #2 this week because he was #3 last week. We'll see if THAT holds true for week 3.

All in all however, I don't think it would be nearly such a "big deal" if the media weren't always looking for the next Hard Copy news story.

Tebow's a much better athlete than Neck Beard, but Tebow won't be a very good NFL QB.

Neck Beard is a better QB than Tebow now and will continue to be for the next 5 years.

Brady Powlus is even better than Tebow at the QB position. Twas a bad draft pick by Mr. McDaniels.

I'll take an a-hole who can throw the ball downfield over a "devout Christian" who can't. Every day.

I've always liked Neck Beard - he's not a great athlete, but he knows how to hand the ball off and minimize TOs. Minnesota should have sold their right leg to get him. By the time Ponder is ready (never), Peterson will be on old knees.

So use use the "athlete" in Tebow and make him a "slash" or option QB down in the redzone. He CAN throw the ball, he can definatly run the ball, and word on the street is he can catch too. Use him in the wildcat (which I doubt John Fox would ever do) and leave Orton in the backfield a few plays with him. Orton could pass, hand off to Tebow who could run or pass, Tebow could split out at flanker like a tight end and then run for the house, etc etc.

Athleticism isn't the problem for Tebow so why not make the most out of what you have.

Just a thought

John Fox is the troubling thing. John Fox is a "what have you done for me lately?" guy and lately has hasn't done anything. The D was awful last year and maybe it was the lack of Dumervil or maybe it wasn't, but it better be really good this year. McDaniels is going to haunt the Broncos for a lot of reasons, one of them might be Tebow, the other is that they canned him way prematurely.

2 weeks away from Raiders v Broncos Monday night and I have been thinking about what to expect out of that first game of the season. Fox vs. Jackson. I think Fox has an advantage for the simple fact that Jackson has never been a head coach before. Plus, Bronco Mania will be in full effect. I hate to say it, but right now the Broncos are poised to win this game. If they don't...if they flop at home vs. the hated Raiders...it's going to be a long, long season for Bronco fans. I hate to say it's "must-win" for week 1, but it sure is starting to look that way.

Prediction:

Broncos 24
Raiders 13

Woody Paige summed up why there's still a QB controversy pretty well.

http://www.denverpost.com...i_18752495

Orton has lost eight of nine, 14 of 17 and 17 of his past 22 starts.

Much has been made of Orton's lack of a running game and a miserable defense in such starts as Oakland (59-14), San Diego (35-14) and Arizona (43-14). Tebow had the same backs and defense at Oakland (39-23) and at home against Houston (24-23) and San Diego (33-28).

In the 13 games Orton started, the Broncos scored touchdowns inside the red zone on 17 of 104 trips (one on a Tebow run). With Tebow as the starter, the Broncos scored touchdowns 6-of-8 times inside the 20.

I do owe Bob an apology though.

Coach Fox thinks it was the cook, not the laundry boy, so I was mistaken.

Posted by Chris Gamrath (+383) 12 years ago
Rick that's pretty easy to distort the facts on Woody's part given Tebow has started 3 games and Orton has started how many??

I think they should work together. I believe Orton to be a great fit in John Fox's system but Tebow has potential to be as well just in a smaller role.

Fox is a run first, pass second kind of guy, and with the addition of McGahee, a healthy Moreno and a healthy off. line (hopefully), Orton can play to his forte of "pass it to here".

The defense will be a work in progress and I know you can't tell much from preseason games, but so far I'm liking what I see.

Where's Delhomme playing now? And J. Fox helped get him to a Super Bowl?? I think I like our chances with Orton.
Top
supporter
Posted by Rick Kuchynka (+4461) 12 years ago
Sure there's only 3 Tebow games to go on, but that also reaffirms what the right decision is.

Remove Tebow from Woody's equation. Orton's point production (really the only 'stat' that matters) is atrocious.

Now add back in the fact that 2 of Tebow's 3 games were against common opponents and the fact that he almost doubled up Orton's point totals against those common opponents.

And then look at those 3 games a different way... these were Tebow's first three NFL games... ever. So even if Tebow's not the best thing since sliced bread... he's terrible in the pocket, can't throw an out, will never 'make it' in the NFL, yada yada. How does he come in as a rookie and outplay Orton? Either Tebow deserves some credit, or Orton is so terrible (as a veteran with one year left on his contract) that the only smart move is to play the kid to see what he can do. If it doesn't work out, at least now you know.

Either way, Orton isn't the guy.

Nothing circular about it.

With Orton - on pace for 22nd in the league in points per game.
With Tebow - on pace for 7th in the league in points per game.

If you want to say the sample's too small, that's fine. But since that 'sample' is comparing a Rookie's first three NFL games to those of a longtime NFL veteran, I'd say the small sample probably helps Orton more than Tebow.

Here's an article from the Denver Post: http://www.denverpost.com...i_18773909

Premise of the article: if Bill Walsh weren't dead, he'd LOVE Tim Tebow.

The author's rationale: Because Walsh really liked Lucy Bradlee Van Pelt, he would have also liked Tebow.

Unfortunately, Lucy Bradlee Van Pelt also sucked.

I didn't say PPC Mike wouldn't write nice things about Tebow if it got traffic. The problem is once it was settled that Orton would start, a person had to get a little more creative to stir up enough controversy to get noticed.

As for Mike's credibility, someone pointed this out on a Broncos board, from way back in 2007. Pretty funny.

http://sportsillustrated....index.html

Apparently Mike used to do yearly mock drafts where he'd pick the best 32 active players in the league. He could pick any players he wanted out of the whole NFL. Here were his top 5 QB's.

1. Carson Palmer
2. Peyton Manning
3. Tom Brady
4. Vince Young
5. JaMarcus Russell

Needless to say, watching him pass over names like Roethlisberger, Brees, Favre, Rivers, McNabb, and Eli Manning in favor of Vince Young and JaMarcus Russell tells you all you need to know about Mike's acumen for judging raw talent.

Van Pelt showed a lot more promise than Tebow.

The frustrating thing here is that if McHoodie wanted to draft a QB he could have taken Josh Freeman who is now the starting QB in Tampa. Instead he took some defensive player that didn't make the team. And he also traded away Tom Branstater who showed a lot of promise.

Hehe. That's ok, I'm paraphrasing some people myself.
http://profootballtalk.nb...criticism/

"All media, all types and levels, desperate for headlines that will move product," Saccomano said. He added that, due to the pressure to generate headlines, "sometimes the tabloid mentality overtakes objectivity, at expense of some great journalists." Saccomano thinks that the work of "[h]it and run journalists" will "speed development of team-only media."

I'd say picking JaMarcus over Roethlisberger or Brees is more of an issue of judgement. Somewhat that utterly confused might, for instance, see someone in a Broncos hoodie standing around the field and assume that he's talking to the head coach.

Long version:

I'm sure are the NFL talent guys were thinking to themselves "Well Tebow's not really our thing, what with the 2 national titles, the 2nd highest NCAA passer rating in history, the Heisman, the SEC scoring records, etc etc, but what happened to that Van Pelt kid from that Mountain West Conference team back in 2003? I don't remember VanPelt tripping on the 20 yard line pulling away from center. In reality, arguing who is the better between VanPelt and Tebow it is like deciding a two way tie for last place. At least a first round pick wasn't wasted on VanPelt. I could be more accepting of Tebow if the draft pick weren't so high and such a waste.

If memory serves correctly (and it does) I bet you could find at least a half dozen pictures of the same thing happening to another Bronco's QB and the only difference between the pictures would be the #7 vs. the #8. Elway couldn't hold a wet ball for chit and freely admitted to it after his retirement.

Now don't get me wrong, this is NOT a comparison between Orton and Elway. Orton had some bad plays undoubtly! He probably did cost us around 10 points. Add those points to the ones that our O-line, our run defense, penalties, and the lack of ANY run game whatsoever, and you've got a good ol'fashioned loss. I don't doubt that Tebow will get his chance this year, but last night was neither the time or place as the Raider's front 4 just might have killed him!

Was it the 2 weeks off for the starters that set us back or what the heck happened from the first half of week 3 preseason (yes I said preseason) when we actually looked pretty dang good against another 1st string off./def. and now??

Hopefully Fox puts them in full pad practice all week and works all the "idiocy" out of them!

The Broncos would need to win the next 18 games straight in order to even the series up between the two teams.

When I moved to Denver in July of 2001...all the locals bragged and bragged about how Denver NEVER lost to the Raiders at home! Since I came to Denver, The Broncos hold a 6-5 series lead at mile high.

The Broncos have now dropped 4 straight and 6 of 8 against the Raiders.

Here's a clip from game 2 of Kyle's current 5-18 streak, way back in 2009.

The Broncs get the ball back with 8 minutes to go, miraculously only down 14-10 after Orton had already thrown a pick 6 and another INT. The one touchdown Denver had was defensive. Somehow the defense kept Denver in the game to give Kyle one last shot at redemption. Let's go to the clip.

I think they should look to trade Orton to Indy. Everybody wins: Orton can go someplace that he's appreciated (at least for a year) and the Donkey fans can get what they deserve demand: Tebow under center.

Probably be more like a 5th round pick. David Garrard still needs a job and was that the game where Orton shovel-passed to Moreno who ran it in from 80 yards out and the stupid referrees ruled Orton down even though he was clearly not? There were about three plays last year that turned a respectable year into garbage.

Is this the same ERIC DECKER who was born in COLD SPRING, MN, matriculated at COLD SPRING ROCORI HIGH SCHOOL and THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA? The same Mr. Decker who, while in college, was the favorite target of SHOREVIEW, MINNESOTA QB PHENOM ADAM WEBER????

Well, Tebow looked pretty sharp in the second half, didn't he?

I didn't see the game, but I listened to it on the satellite radion driving back to Helena yesterday from Miles City, and saw the highlights on SportsCenter. Not a bad performance on the highlight reel, though listening to the play-by-play, it did sound as if he had some McNabb-like moments.

I don't know if Tebow is the long-term answer for the Broncos, but I know that the bearded-statute-of- liberty-interception-and-tackling-dummy is not. The Broncos should take Orton to Miami and leave him there to play for the "dullfins".

Well you get a shot at Miami and two at KC, but no Indianapolis. The schedulers were not terribly kind this year. He has enough legs to open things up more and beating the Jets, SD, or MIN seems plausible, there is 5-11 potential. Orton is still a better QB, but Cam Newton is laying the blue print for how a guy that should always be double covered gets wide open.

I found CBS' comparison of Tebow to Bobby Douglass particularly apt.

I also feel bad for you Broncos fans. With Tebow at QB, you're watching an offense that more closely resembles a rugby team than a football team. Brutal.

Not that they're anything similar in style, but Elway's stats in '83 weren't all that impressive either.

123 of 259 attempts for 1663 yards and a completion % of 47.9
7 TD's passing vs. 14 picks
28 sacks and not a single pass completed over 20 yards.

In '84 in 15 games, he went 18 td's and 15 picks with almost 2,600 yards and still no completed passes over 20 yards.

Again he's not anything like John Elway, but give the kid a chance to develop!

One of many stats that do stand out in Elway's profile,
From 1983 to the start of the 1991 season, he never fumbled the ball. What happended in '91 I'm not sure but he made up for it in the next few seasons! lol

I may very-well be the only one who knows whom you are referring to, Richard.

The correct spelling would be Cremer, I think...Craig's little brother Marc was the one who won the State Championship - are you sure you don't mean him?

Anyway, if it makes you feel any better, the Broncos aren't the ONLY NFL team having issues at QB - my beloved Raiders lost their starter to a broken collarbone a couple weeks ago and the Raider O hasn't been able to do diddly since that happened...I don't think Carson Rosey-Palm is the answer, either...

...but, oh, I SO want that 6-pack.

I went to that lousy game today. Last minute decision, 60 bucks for the ticket. The braut was good.... the sun was amazing and shined on my face the entire game. It was an amazing day to spend outdoors.

Of course, that was the only thing that was good about being at the game. It was amazing that 72,000 people can be that quiet when in one large group. At times it was like being all alone in the stadium it was so quiet.

And no chanting "Tebow Tebow" now.

I think either one of them would have done no worst. I think that much of the problem today was the play calling. The coaches didn't do much to help Tebow have any success. They need to go find the playbook they used with Jake Plummer. Roll Tebow out and let him throw on the run. I also would have played the whole first half in a hurry-up mode. Wear those big defensive linemen out.

The guy I feel bad for is Brady Quinn. I would like to see him get some playing time. He can't be worse than what we saw today. He really hasn't had a fair shot.

Sad, sad, sad.

Probably because it might be partially true. I made the very same comment while watching the game. Fox wants a pocket passer that can run his dinosaur-style run-heavy offense. The coaching staff did very little to help Tebow. Right now Fox is on a mission to prove to the Ricky K's of the world that Tebow isn't going to cut it while at the same time keep fans in the seats.

"Can you believe `15'?" one Detroit Lions defender asked after his team's 45-10 immolation of Tebow and the Denver Broncos. "Come on - that's embarrassing. I mean, it's a joke. We knew all week that if we brought any kind of defensive pressure, he couldn't do anything. In the second half it got boring out there. We were like, 'Come on - that's your quarterback? For everything else that has happened, young Mr. Tebow has certainly made it interesting - and fun to be a Bronco fan again. In the Kyle Orton era, the Broncos always lost the 4th quarter (or at least it seemed they did). Now you're compelled to watch, because you never know what Tebow will pull out of his butt in the end if it's close.

I'm not sure how long it will last, but it is great fun for now.

Best quote about Tebow yet:

Jake Plummer, "Tebow, regardless of whether I wish he'd just shut up after a game and go hug his teammates, I think he's a winner and I respect that about him. I think that when he accepts the fact that we know that he loves Jesus Christ then I think I'll like him a little better. I don't hate him because of that, I just would rather not have to hear that every single time he takes a good snap or makes a good handoff.like you know, I understand, dude, where you're coming from ... but he is a baller. He knows how to win and when your teammates believe in you that you can do good things and that's what they are doing. They are winning. That's fun to see."

BTW...I don't see Denver beating SD this weekend.

If Denver doesn't beat SD, I still expect it to be close. SD's ability to play to the competition is matched only by the Bobcats.

My fantasy season is riding on Tebow's shoulders after some unfortunate drafts and trades (Jamaal Charles, Chris Johnson for Mike Wallace), but all I can think when I watch him is that Ronnie Brown was a better passer out of the wildcat.
Top
supporter
Posted by Cory Cutting (+1270) 11 years ago
I have totally given up on my fantasy team. I picked Chris Johnson as first draft pick this year instead of Brady thinking that Johnson was the man based upon what every flapping gum said before the season, and no one was going to take Brady in the first round. Well, Brady was gone and Johnson has turned out to be a fantasy flop.

No one in my fantasy league will touch Tebow... the way our league is scored, he would kill a team off with only 8 passes a game.

I still think they should put Quinn in and lets see what he's got.

And I TOTALLY agree with Plummer. I don't want to see them praying every time something happens and in a big prayer circle after the game. Play football, get beat up a bit, and shut the hell up. He said on every interview in Denver last week "First and foremost I want to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ for the win."

Ok since no one else has brought this thread back around, I'll stand up and take it this week!

Say what you will (myself included), love him or hate him, he's STILL winning games. Does Mr Tebow have help in that feat? Absolutely. Thanks to a revived running game, and a defense that is actually stepping up and playing ball, we have a legitimate chance to be in the hunt. Those $#@%# Raiders are still a game ahead of us, BUT they're the Raiders. They will find a way to mess that up!

With any luck at all, A.P. won't play again this week for the Vikes, and looks like they're sticking with Heine in Chicago. Once again there are 2 more games we at the very least we have a chance of winning.

If Tebow could have the time in the pocket that San Diego gave him, he might just start to look like a "real" QB. Critics can say what they want, but I have as of yet to hear ANT of them truely explain why the Option/Triple Option/Wishbone won't continue to work. I see it as an offensive scheme the same as the West Coast, 2 back set, etc etc that are played today. Every team knows what offense the other team is going to run, and even in knowing that, THAT offense is still used and successful, so why not the Option?? IF you can defend McGahee/Royal/Tebow and do it every single down, then I want to see it. Not a single team out there defends the West Coast offense every single down to the point of critics saying "it won't work" so what makes the Option offense different? So far the only reason I've heard anyone come up with is thst Tebow will take too many hits? Really?? I think he's big enough to take a few hits here and there. Big Ben has taken more sacks/hits then most all QB's in the league and he's still under center.

I wouldn't yet compare our defense to theirs, but this team remind me a lot of a team back in 2000 that everyone said would never win the Big One BECAUSE of their quarterback, but last I checked, Trent Dilfer still has a ring to wear. A long shot? Hell yes! Possible? yes

Tebow has shown me nothing that makes me believe he can be a big time qb in the NFL. But, if you give me 22 guys with his drive and will to win, we will never lose a game. The option does not expose him to a few hits now and then. He is fair game on just about every play. Another week or so of film on him, and he is gonna get layed out on every play. The thought that somebody posting here is that much smarter than NFL coaches and defensive players is ridiculous. If the option was a legitimate offense, it would have been the rage in the NFL several decades ago. Don't get me wrong. It's fun to watch, but why do you suppose the Patriots don't run it? Or the Packers? Because they value their quarterbacks, and the option is certainly gonna put your multi million dollar man in the hospital. Once he pitches the ball, he is fair game for any defender to make a name for himself. It's just a matter of time until NFL defenders decide to crush him, on every play. He just won't last long once that starts.

Mathew- I'm certainly not trying to imply that I'm smarter then NFL coaches and/or their defense. All I'm asking here is for an explanation as to WHY the option can't be successful if for no other reason then exposing the QB to big hits. From an Elway/Fox perspective and not that either of them would admit to it, but do you honestly think they're worried about Tebow taking big hits? It seems to me that neither of them asked to have him, so why not use his talents to "win games" now, and worry about finding a franchise QB later. Tebow is a product of the McDaniel's draft and all they're trying to do is give the people what they want, AND hopefully win games while it's happening. I honestly don't see Tebow having more then a 2 year future in Denver at the most anyway, so they're getting what they can, while they can.

To my original point though, other then hits on the QB, why can't the option offense work?

What a mail biter amd yes it probably would have been different with A.P. in the game but the same could be said for Mr. Miller also. Great game Tebow, McGahee, D. Thomas, Mario Haggan, and everyone else.

Never want to see anyone injured (ok maybe Rivers) bur we seem to be catching the competition at just the right time. The Bears are next with no Cutler, and now no Forte. What are the odds that Tom Brady could get a bum throwing shoulder and have to sit out when we play them?

Richard, yes unfortuantly I do tend to chew on the mail every once in awhile. Usually it's the Figi's catalog with all the meat and cheese trays as they're too expensive to buy, so I try to go for the next best thing.

Levi, if we should happen to beat the Bears this weekend, would that answer your question of defenses? As for top rated defenses, I don't think we've had that oppurtunity yet, but the Chiefs, Jets, and even the Vikings are all at least middle of the pack. Depending on how you rate a defense, the Packers are the #1 team in football overall, but their defense is certainly not a juggernaut. They are oppurtunistic in the takeaways much like the Saints of a couple years ago, but they definatly have their flaws. The Saints are much the same this year.

I forsee an offensive superpower from the NFC going up against a defensive superpower from the AFc in the Superbowl this year. The old saying goes "Offense wins games, but defense wins championships" may just ring true again this year. I did pick the Packers to repeat this year before the season started and have them going against Houston. Time will tell

To the Broncos however, I say if our defense keeps playing the way they have (minus the 350 yds in the Minn. game), we have a legitimate chance against anyone.

Chris, I will be at this game. You really think, with the state of injury the Bears are in, that the Broncos shouldn't be expected to win the game? This will be no miracle win.

Tebow doesn't have to beat the Bear's offense Denise (where all of the Bears major injuries are at). Tebow plays against their defense and their defense is as good and healthy as they've ever been. I don't see this game as a "miracle win" either way, but Tebow's performance can still be gauged against a defense that's pretty dang good, win or lose.

Exactly. Combine that with a devastated offense, and this should be one in the win column for the Broncos.

I feel so... dirty... picking the Broncos this weekend.

At least my hatred of Elway was pure and uncomplicated - he kept beating my Browns in the playoffs.

Tebow asks me to be complicit in my own degradation - my decision to hate Denver forever must be set aside for considerations of filthy filthy lucre.

On the other hand, the guy who can catch me in the pool is a HUGE Bears fan, so this will hurt him far more than it does me.

. . . and, he does it again thanks to Marion Barber being asleep at the wheel and poor pass receiver coverage from the Bears. Nice job from the field goal kicker. Exciting ending anyway. Hope you had fun at the game, Denise.

Honestly, I did not. The entire game, until 4th quarter, Broncos fans would tell any Bears fan to sit the "F" down or shut the "F" up or some other lovely instruction, including my children who would cheer for their team. I politely asked one such fan to stop dropping F bombs to my kids, to which she replied shut the F up bitch. Cut to the first Bronco touchdown, and all these same fans are standing up, screaming and taunting Bears fans, including my kids, with more swear words. I was surprised I hauled my husband out without an arrest after one Bronco fan put his face within an inch of my husband's and taunted and screamed at him, even though my husband said not one word the entire game.

Quite honestly, I expected this not to be a close game. The Bears offense is devastated and the defense is so-so. The Broncos should have won this game. And yet all I heard yelled throughout the stadium and the tunnel was "Tebow, Tebow". Prater won that game, plain and simple, yet no mention of him. I actually had a woman behind me say "Please, Jesus, guide Tebow". Ridiculous. Like the Holy Trinity gives two rips about American football.

Watch next week Mr. Brady will do some of his magic. The defense has been holding the team up, are they good? Timmy is not the QB of the future for Denver, he has the worst case of happy feet I have ever seen. Wasnt there but apoligise for the rudness, the same people will be saying the same thing about Tim when they start losing, which they will.

Probably has to do with the unpleasant task ahead of Elway telling the fans that Tebow is not the franchise QB of the future.

Yeah, the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on all of the brand new, shiny Tebow gear sported by Broncos fans will be seen swirling down the drain soon. Could someone point out to me one single thing Tebow did in yesterday's game that any college-level QB, and even many high school-level QBs, wouldn't have done? I saw nothing spectacular, other than some super awesome field goals, and some really terrible defense. Even Broncos fans around me, as Tebow would throw another pass ten yards past/over the receiver, would say, "That's okay Timmy, you're getting closer." Yet, they would scream at their receivers for not catching the ball. Why are Tebow's very obvious shortcomings overlooked? It was a surreal experience.

I really liked when the Broncos fan asked us where our cheering was now, after the first Bronco touchdown. Uhhh....exactly where yours was 90% of the game. Beating mediocre teams in the closing minutes of each game week in and week out is not going to translate into a Super Bowl, people. Just in case you were wondering.

Bob, actually my son and I wore our BSU game gear, so I was a little concerned that I would be confused for a Denver fan. Lol.

How can anyone not love Tebow. To listen to the FB talking-heads, you'd think he kept the "vaunted Bear's offense" at bay, caught the very passes he threw, designed the offense for himself and kicked the tying and winning field goals(averaging about 54 yards) himself.

The sad thing for me is, the Broncos are in the AFC West, crappiest division in the AFC, if not in the whole NFL. Two of their next three games are very winnable, for anybody. Outside of Oakland, San Diego has two tough games and Oakland has to play Detroit before they play SD and KC. The Broncos will be in the playoffs this year, but next year year, except for the AFC West, they'll have to play a tougher schedule.

Actually, I've found that Vikings games at the Metrodome are pretty civil to fans in opposing apparel, too. I recently took my daughter to the Vikes vs. Raiders and I was wearing Raider gear...as were a pretty good number of the fans in attendance. I didn't get any hostile treatment or attitude from anyone at all.

As to all the Bronco fans out there who are praising Tebow as the Messiah - enjoy his present success while you can. That's all I have to say.

I don't envy John Elway. At some point he will have to tell a fan base, drunk on Coors light and Tebowism, that Tebow is not the Broncos franchise QB of the future. That message is not going to be well received. You cannot build a dynasty on 58 minutes of garbage offense and 2 minutes of the other team playing prevent defense or blitzing out of a prevent defense.

A true football fan knows that Teblow has done nothing but ride the defense's hard work and efforts, funny thing the Broncos offense sucks the enitire game for oh say the last 7-8 weeks...teams go soft on defense, make stupid mistakes and Teblow gets the credit beciuse Denver steals the game in the fourth...well Donco fans good luck against Mr. Brady and company.
As for the comment about not wearing opposing teams gear to games, I have been to many NFL games and I proudly wear my Bears gear and the only place I have ever taken crap is Denver...classy real classy...NOT!
In closing, lets see all you donco and Timmy Teblow fans out in force after the Brady led Patriots kick your ...lets say donkey...you will then play the terrible Bills and Chiefs make the playoffs and get drummed out. Wow, Cbad I take it you're not a fan of the Broncos. I could say "sour grapes" but then again as a Bear's fan, what do you have to be sweet over since 1985? The best thing the Bears did was to take Cutler off our hands. You can deal with the Cannon Arm that's more likely to pout then pass when it comes down to trying to make a play against a tough defense.

For those of you following this thread, you know good and well that I started out far removed from any Tebow bandwagon, and haven't given much more credit then he's due. That being said, give credit where credit is due. Tebow, much like every other starting QB in the league, will be given the chance during a game, to play against a prevent defense. It's not anything specific to Tebow, or the Broncos, or Mile High. If you don't like how he does against your prevent defense, DON'T PLAY IT! In the Bears game, he was 3 for 16 in the first 3 quarters. One point that always seems to get left out by the Tebow critics is the fact that there were at the very least, 5 catchable balls that receivers dropped. One was an almost guarenteed 6 points, and 2 others were drive extending 1st downs in Bear's territory. That puts him at .500 and a game total of 20 f0r 40 for 200+ yds, a TD, and a pick. I'm thinking there's at least 16 to 20 teams out there that would take that kind of day from their QB amd be ready to play him again the next week.

Will the Broncos beat the Pats? In my heart I think yes. But if I had to put money on it, I'd probably put it in on the Pats based on Brady and he ridiculous ways when it comes time for Dec./Jan. football. The kicker is, you have NO IDEA what Tebow and the Broncos will do against the Pats. Brady is Brady and always will be. With Welker and Gronk, and an unselfish offense, it's hard for anyone to keep up with in points. Their defense however is so absolutely horrible that they made the Redskins look good, so in that I say Tebow and company have all the chances in the world to exploit it. Hopefully we can run the ball down their throats, chew up the clock, and won't have to throw 40 times. The Bronco's defense will be the biggest key in how we play Brady. I say unleash Miller for the 1st quarter and if he's in Brady's face keeo it up. If we can't get to Brady then we sure as hell better keep the ball out of Gronk's hands.

As for Tebow's future in Denver, I'll bet my paycheck that WHEN we make the playoffs, Tebow's future will be safe in Denver for at least another season after this one. QB of the future? Who knows. QB of the next couple of years? I'm betting so.

Brady vs. Tebow:

http://espn.go.com/espn/s...-your-pick

John Fox is a defensive genius. He will take Welker and Gruntkowski out of the game, and Brady will be left with nothing. This will give Tebow his opportunity.

My prediction: Broncos 17, Patriots 13.

.....if the game is played fairly.

If Belichick finds a way to cheat:

Patriots 34, Broncos 6.

From a friend's FB status....

Tom Brady, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Patriots flag in the window.

"This house is yours for eternity Tom, said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here."

Tom felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a huge 3-story mansion with Orange and Blue sidewalks and drive ways, a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous Broncos logo flag waving, a swimming pool in shape of a horse, a Broncos logo in every window, and a Tim Tebow jersey on the front door.

Tom looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I won 3 Super Bowls, and I even went to the Hall of Fame."

God said "So what's your point Tom?" "Well, why does Tim Tebow get a better house than me?"

God chuckled, and said "Tom, that's not Tim's house, it's mine."

Since the 49ers are on Monday night this week I watched my first full Broncos game of the year and I have to say that Tebow would make a very good running back. Possibly a tight end if he can catch.

Watching him run backwards half the length of the field and then Phil Simms saying "I wasn't fast enough to ever lose 29 yards" was a definite LOL moment.

Levi I just wanted to say I'm sorry that the first full Bronco's game you watched this year was this last one. Despite what the "Donkey Critics" would have you believe. the 1st quarter was more to what we've seen this year versus the other 3 quarters. Anyone who watches football knows that against New England you might get away with one turnover and still win, 2 is a long shot for the best of teams, and 3? Well let's just say even Devine Intervention wasn't bringing us back from that one. It should be noted that only one of those 3 turnovers was the fault of Mr Tebow. I know it will always be this way in any sport, but sometimes I do wish people could learn to just sit back and enjoy watching a young kid with plenty of RAW talent, develop into something that all his critics continue to say he'll never be. All it takes is time

Did you watch the Chicago game? You do remember that Denver scored exactly zero points until the Bears started playing their safeties 30 yards from scrimmage.

My favorite quote, so far, by Charles P. Pierce...

The available evidence indicates that Tim Tebow can control a game just well enough to put his kicker in position to nail one from 59 yards to tie a team that yesterday lost by 24 points to the Seattle Seahawks. Compelling? Not as a player. Not yet.

What a great win for Mr. Elway today.

It was clear that dismissal of Orton was justified and that the Broncos can now go pursue a real quarterback to replace Tebow. Tebow flat hasn't gotten it done in the last three games. Adam Weber has to be better than Tebow.

Winning the division has a rather hollow feeling to it.

Tebow was afraid to throw the ball. They showed at least a half dozen times where receivers were wide open and he never threw it. One other interesting point from the talking heads. They were at Broncos' practice and had never seen a practice where a quarterback had spent so much time throwing the ball. 1,000 passes every day in practice and this is the result???

On the bright side, it has been a much more fun and interesting season than I thought it would be. The Broncos winning more than 4 games seemed like a pipe dream. Defense was good for the most part, offensive line has been great, there are some pretty good skill position players, now if we can just get a quarterback who can complete a pass on a somewhat regular basis.

And who knows, they still have one more game to play and I've yet to see a game won or lost on paper (or Milescity.com for that matter). Maybe they have another surprise or two in them. Go Broncos

As long as Denver keeps Turbo, their biggest need is a receiver or two that can beat press coverage. That probably won't be enough, however, as Turbo can't throw the ball downfield with any accuracy.

Because I'm not a Donkey fan, I'm rooting for them to keep Turbo as the starter in 2012. He's not an NFL QB. By next year, the other AFC West teams will do an even better job stopping Denver's simplistic offense.
