I just ate there a couple of times last week. The food was very, very good. For example, their refried beans actually have beans in them -- they aren't pureed -- and Patrick's specials are different and good. My mom had the mahi mahi and loved it. We had really good service as well.

Ignore frost. Everything sucks in his world.

The Iron Horse was open last night when we were doing the Ghost Tour in Riverside Park. Music playing, cars in the parking lot, folks going in and out. They may have cut hours like many other restaurants because of problems getting help.

That's weird. The last couple times we've tried to go they've been closed, no one in the parking lot and lights off.

The new steakhouse is a steak house. Limited menu and the veg side I had was sad. Iron Horse actually has variety on the menu. I would still kill for a good Italian restaurant but that's not in the cards.

Again, though, the Iron Horse was open last night. Maybe you should give them a call to get hours.

Was just there Friday night, they were open then. And there was cars in the parking lot Saturday, so must have been open then too.

When were you there? Last i knew, they weren't open Sundays, nor are they open before 11 (i think) for lunch or overly late in the evenings.

Either you have very low standards for food, or I ate at another steakhouse.

My daughter ate at the new steakhouse. Was not impressed. My other daughter ate at the Iron Horse about 2 weeks ago when she was in town. Said she will never go back.

I don't understand why the quality of food is either bad or erratic at best. Are there no good cooks left in Miles City? Or are the restaurants not paying enough for quality food to be prepared?

I've ate at the new Montana Steakhouse twice now. Service was very good both times. Food however was just average. The first time I had a steak; requested it prepared medium. When i got it, the steak would have been very good as it had decent flavor, but it was cooked well past medium. My guest had the prime rib as we'd heard good things. She called it average at best, saying that she'd had better at the Hole in the Wall.

Their menu selection was quite slim as well. Yes, i realize they are relatively new and just getting the hang of things--and I'll probably go back--but I wouldn't call it exceptional.

As for the Iron Horse, I've never had bad food and eat there semi-regularly. The service is iffy at times though.

I've had two good experiences at the new Steak House. They have great Prime Rib. Its a bit slow but they are new.
I will never return to the Iron Horse. Terrible service and not once have I had even a ok meal. Besides the few on here Ive never heard any good feedback about that place.

I went to the iron horse and orderd spare ribs or short ribs there was no meat just pure grizzle I sent them back and they brought me pork ribs same thing but there alcoholic drinks are pretty dam good. But the iron horse was 100 times better when jole ran it always had amazing food. I have to say rib and chop is a good steak house in mc always good food. Haven't tried that new steak house on main street yet but it looks nice.
What we need is that amazing bbq place we used to have dam that was good

I think the food at Iron Horse is ok. I have a craveing for mexican chicken now and then but 1 1/2 hours for lunch is ridiculous! If the service was better it would be good!!

That old BBQ place was good....

Iron Horse has some great menu items. I've had great service for the most part, although a few times the wait has been on the long side.

Until a few weeks ago we hadn't been to the Iron Horse in about a year. We are so impressed with everything we have tried there that it is now our new favorite. I am always looking for excuses to go (it might rain)(it might not rain)(it's Monday)...things like that.
If you give it another try I think you will be pleased.

Everyone seems to also forget the 519. Great service, great cook! Everone referrs to the "old cattle-ac"- well that cook is now the cook at the 519. Awesome steaks of all kinds, pasta, seafood..They are only open from 5pm to 10pm'ish- tues thru saturady, and definately not to knock any of the other places to eat...we have found this to be the place most frequented for a great meal, refreshing drinks, fast, friendly service, quiet bar atmosphere for those that actually like to have conversations and great menu selection...just saying!

We had dinner at the Iron Horse on Saturday night. The food was very, very good. I had the tilapia, which was perfectly cooked and my husband had the special; BBQ Ribs and Shrimp. Both dinners were excellent. The service was also good.

The last time I was at the 519, I had the pasta carbonara. It had pasta in it but it was NOT pasta carbonara. It was ingredients drenched in alfredo sauce. Sigh.

Never order Italian food at a steak restaurant. I should know that.

We ate ourselves blind in Bozeman a few weeks ago but those high end places would die on the vine in our economy. Although the sushi was quite reasonable, imagine a sushi place in Miles City?

Ate there Sat. night.Food was great and the service good. Still a good choice in places to go. Also it was pretty laid back. We ate at Rib and Chop this week as well and you couldn't hardly talk in there it was so noisy. My meal was about equal but the service was better at Iron Horse.

The food at the Iron Horse is excellent. If you went there before and did not like it, please try it again, the Special are excellent and the prices on the specials are great. If you have a problem, talk to the owners, they will make it right! This is what small business are all about. They are also taking reservations for Christmas dinners.

Just ate at the Iron Horse a few weeks ago and was not pleased with my food. I had not gone there in some time because of my last experience. I love the atmosphere and all....I find the owner's not very friendly to say the least. The lady owner always acts like it is so hard for her to smile or be friendly....I don't quite get it??? This is Miles City and half the reason people return to a business is being treated well.
The owner husband isn't much better at the whole "friendly" thing either.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Actually, I have been there quite a bit over the last year and I think the food is great! They will even make things that aren't on the menu to accommodate a customer. The owners are quite friendly and deeply care about their employees. I think we are lucky to have them in our community.

I have eaten at the Montana Grill several times and the food is very good and reasonable. The sirloin steak is awesome! Plenty of side options. I HIGHLY recommend! I have also eaten at the Iron Horse several times and have been disappointed with the quality of food as compared to the price.

Why do I feel that each one of these reviewers has a vested interest in the establishment they review? Well the positive ones at least.

Vested interest here....best steaks, best prime rib, best pasta, best ribs, best yeast rolls ... right here at our home in Hockley. Just finished up four kinds of yeast rolls for tomorrow's dinner. Anytime anyone is near Houston, holler and I will fix your dinner. Please, all, have a great Thanksgiving. Enjoy your family and friends and be thankful for a year that brought challenges, but reminds me of who is in charge!

No vested intrest here. I have no connection with any of the restaurants in MC. Iron Horse is the only one I have been disappointed in.

Iron Horse is beyond disappointment. Not only does the food suck, but the owners are back stabbing losers that need to go back to where the hell they came from. Trust me, they will be nice to your face and reassure you about everything, but ha its a lie and they will drag it out for months if you are dumb enough to believe them that long, what a waste of a perfectly good building that someone could use for and AWESOME eating establishment. well thats my 2 cents, cuz i have had the joyful experience.... haha

Bravo! Also with first hand experience I am in total agreement with you! Over the course of 3 weeks I had been trained, tested, hired, scheduled and worked all of 6 days whilst the whole time recieving only praise. One day before my next scheduled shift, I recieved a call saying they had changed their mind and so were recinding the offer of employment (I didn't know it then, but i do now...by doing so they did me a great favor!
As far as the food, it always seemed to be a gamble; for every one time it was great, there would be one when food would be mediocre or downright disappointing.

Some of my co-workers and I went to the Iron Horse for lunch yesterday. All I can say about the food and the service is... NOT IMPRESSED!!! The staff seemed bored and annoyed that we were even there. I ordered crab wontons, which is the only edible thing I have ever ordered there before. They were cold and greasy on the outside and cold on the inside. If the cooks are not even capable of deep frying something.....

I used to go there quite often for lunch and dinner...until the last time, I ordered a chicken wrap for lunch...and after eating half of it, noticed that the inside of the tortilla wrap had big green fuzzy mold on it! Never going back!

Same experience. Went a month or so ago and they wanted to seat us where we didn't want to sit. Very insistent. We wanted to sit on the fireplace side. They didn't even want to give us an additional chair for the 5th person. Did they just want us to stand at the table?? They seemed extremely annoyed from the moment we walked through the door. There were only 2 other parties in the place. How could seating us be such a problem? Absolutely deplorable welcoming. We felt like intruders. Not sure what is happening there, but it shouldn't be a public restaurant. We've always enjoyed going there in years past, but not any more.

I think that the owners must be on a witness prtection program from some where down south. I mean who in there right mind would let this go for this long and not care about making it right for the customers.
