I am sorting through Mom's stuff. The items in good condition will go to St. V's or the Convent or somewhere but I am wondering about items that are not in such good condition, with stains or tears. They are mostly cotton and cotton/blend. Does anyone take those for rags?

St. Vincent de Paul cuts up old t-shirts and sweatshirts for rags and does sell them to the businesses. I am not sure...but, they used to cut off buttons and card them and sell them. They sometimes send things on to EMI as well. All seems to find a use. Nice of you.

EMI also takes them and cuts them up and sells to.

Ask your church...or a friend's church. I know many quilting circles take old clothing and use it to make quilts.

If you have enough to do 10 1/2" squares the Luthren Ladies make quilts. Just a little thought there. And a great project for the colder days.
