I, for one, am glad that when I am trying to accomplish my jobs that my Internet provider decided to do "scheduled maintenance" without notifing me so I am stuck without access to the Internet on my home computers.

Maybe that is what is going on with mine. It said I had no internet connection this morning and I tried all the usual fixes and it didn't work. The icon said connected but no internet?

Well just to make sure..

Unplug your Modem and router (if you have a router), wait 5 seconds and reconnect the power to your modem. After all lights have turned solid, reconnect your router power and wait for it to finish.

If internet access is still not there, restart your computer.

Still not there? Call Midrivers. 234-3336

Thanks Josh, I tried those things this morning. I am not home so I don't know if it is back up. If it is still down when I get home I will call Midrivers. Any idea how long the outage was supposed to last?

When did this outage occur? I've had no problem accessing the internet all morning.

Oh. A quite reasonable time, then, for working people. You do realize maintenance has to take place and the middle of the night is the most appropriate time for it?

They still didn't have my workplace's internet up this morning. I think we finally got back on around 10:30 am.

I understand that. However, most companies choose to notify their customers of maintenance that will take their TV and Internet down around a week ahead. I know my web hosting company does, along with a few other services I use. It wouldn't of been that hard to send an email out VIA their "Newsletter" to notify people of this a week ahead.

Hmm. I was having problems as well at that time, and I thought it was a problem with my computer. Thanks to all of you, I know that it was midrivers.

I have never lost internet connectivity (that I know of) due to maintenance. Equipment or network failure, but not maintenance. There should be no need to interrupt service. I often think I'll move back to a small town when my internet business takes off, but how could I function with loss of service? Maybe a T1 line would be safer?

Well I guess mine had nothing to do with the outage because it was at about 7:00a.m. Either way when I got home from work it was just fine.

Before I moved here I had just finished building my computer. I had many of the parts , but also bought over $600 in parts , all of them steeply discounted through effort and shopping. I had loaded my software and was working on a few things and the electricity went off. I did not have a battery backup but did have a surge protector. I looked out the window and saw the electric company pickup standing by the powerpole. Yes he had disconnected the power and my never used computer was instantly junk. I talked to the lineman and called the company , and they stonewalled me and said they do not pay for damage to electronics. REA is the company.

Oh. A quite reasonable time, then, for working people.

Actually anytime before midnight isn't really reasonable. By the time I get home from the theatre it's quite often 11:00 PM or later and I have home-office/website work to do that'll keep me up until 1:00 or later. A better time would be 2:00 AM or later. (But then that screws up the people who come home drunk from the bars and want to surf porn....so I guess there IS no good time.)

Remember we are going through periods of intensive solar flares, which causes disruptions in communication such as cell phones. Don't be alarmed if you are alone for ten minutes and can't call anyone.,
