a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

We already have the ARMY, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard plus the National Guard. A bunch of obese hillbillies running around the wilderness "drilling" doesn't do anyone a damned bit of good. Freedom-wise, anyway.

But every real Amurican believes that having guns and running around in the woods defending yur country agin those invaders makes you a real Patriot.

I assume, since this is a Republican proposal, it will cost the taxpayers absolutely nothing. Otherwise, they are supposed to be cutting guvmint, not makin' it bigger.

Of course, they have been wasting taxpayer money discussing some fictional "Code of the West" rather than actually doing anything worthwhile so I suppose this is just part of the trend. Claim to want to SAVE taxpayers money while spending it in every silly *ss way you can.

Actually, I'm starting to warm up to the idea of the "Code of the West". Googling gives this site:

http://www.legendsofameri...ewest.html

Where the Code of the West offers, among other gems, the following that pertain to whiskey:

Never order anything weaker than whiskey

Always fill your whiskey glass to the brim

Always drink your whiskey with your gun hand, to show your friendly intentions

So....if we adopt this Code of the West, when I go to the bar and order a Jim Beam on the rocks, by the new Montana state law, the bartender better serve me my whiskey filled to the brim, or we can haul him off to the hoosegow.

There would seem to be some merit in this.

Not to fan the flames any, but can't we here in Montana do without our own Navy and Coast Guard? I sure don't think we need any militia to replace them, but they seem a little useless in Montana.

Seriously though. We have a well armed militia in this country already. We are called hunters. The licensed hunters in Wisconsin, Texas, West Virginia and Michigan alone comprise the largest armed force in the world. Throw in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and a few more western states, and we got ya all covered people. No worries here.

The key here is understanding that gun worship is a religion. Wendy gets that, and this Fitzpatrick guy really does not.

Warburton replied that denying employees the right to keep guns in their vehicles is akin to preventing them from having Bibles in their cars.

But John Fitzpatrick, a spokesman for NorthWestern Energy, wasn't buying that. "Nobody has ever been killed by a Bible going off accidentally," he said.

It would also prevent employers from firing someone for exercising their Second Amendment rights, she added.

In fact, knowing that employees would not need to go home to get their guns might prevent employers from firing anyone at all.

Wendy Warburton is a loony. Here's a sample of her position on abortion:

Right now in Montana there are absolutely no restrictions on abortion, up to the moment of labor, and Montana parents have absolutely no right to know if their teen-aged daughter gets an abortion. Young women from other states travel here to get abortions because of this.

http://wendywarburton.com...havre.html

Montana follows Roe v. Wade and specifically bans abortion after the fetus is viable. 50-20-109, MCA. The only exception is if the mother's health is in danger and even then it requires the agreement of 3 doctors unless it's an emergency life or death situation.

When a minor wants an abortion the physician is required to give at least 48 hours notice to a parent or legal guardian. 50-20-204, MCA.

I'm not arguing with her obvious anti-choice position. She is entitled to her opinion. But she is either ignorant of Montana's current law or is deliberately spreading inaccurate information to rile people up. I'm ashamed to share her name.

I need to revise my previous post. There may have been a court injunction preventing the state from enforcing the parental notice requirement. Does anyone have any info on this?

https://www.msu.edu/user/...stablw.htm

look under the paragraphs about INFORMED CONSENT AND WAITING PERIODS. Also above that it says that Mt is one of the states that doesn't enforce the laws...Hope that is helpful as it was all I could find...
